Casa das Artes hosts a chat about Women and Comics this Thursday

Next Thursday (5), Casa das Artes will host a chat about women and comics. The event is free and starts at 7 PM, with 20 spots available and a certificate with workload, for participants aged 18 and over.
The meeting will address the presence of Amazonian women in the comic book production scene, with a narrative centered on the female perspective from the background to the forefront, aiming to break paradigms and stereotypes structured in society, using paths with archetypes and inspiring symbols that help to modify this reality.
Focusing on artists, students, researchers, and curators of arts and related fields, the chat seeks the artistic expression of narrative creation by women and the representation of characters that exist in the Amazonian imagination.
Featuring Mandy Modesto, a Master in History, Criticism, and Education in Art from the Graduate Program in Arts at UFPA and a graduate in Visual Arts Education from UFPA. She works as an illustrator and comic artist, participates in the MARPARÁ collective of women artists from Pará, and has been an editor for the Açaí Pesado Collective. Alongside Maiara Malato, she is an illustrator and comic artist graduated from the Federal University of Pará (UFPA) and has been a participant of Curro Velho for over 10 years.
"It is very important to provide moments like the Women and Comics chat, so we can perceive the strength of this panorama of actions, articulate ourselves, and inspire more people to participate in this universe of comic books," says Mandy Modesto.
The free event, with a certificate issued for participants with at least 90% attendance, seeks to highlight female protagonism in the Amazonian comic scene.
