Quality and economic potential of Pará cocoa were highlighted at the opening of the Amazon and Flor Pará Chocolate Fair

More than 300 cocoa producers from different regions of Pará's Integration participated in the event

With the participation of more than 300 cocoa producers and the exhibition of Amazonian plants and flowers, the Amazon and Flor Pará Cocoa and Chocolate Fair was officially opened on the night of this Thursday (5), at Hangar, in Belém. The program included the presence of various authorities from the sector and the vice-governor of Pará, Hana Ghassan, who emphasized the economic potential of the fruit's production chain in Pará.

"We want to congratulate the organizers for this Cocoa and Chocolate Fair of the Amazon! This is an important segment of our state, which generates thousands of jobs, adds value to the product, and represents an economy of more than five billion reais a year. We are very proud of Pará cocoa and we want more and more the state of Pará producing, because it is our vocation," emphasized the vice-governor.

The Secretary of Agricultural Development and Fisheries, Giovanni Queiroz, highlighted the quality of the beans produced in Pará, recognized as the best in the world. "This event here is extraordinary, it enhances the state of Pará and is a source of pride for all of us. Today, we are world champions of the best cocoa bean, we have the highest productivity per hectare and the greatest effective gain for the producing family," he highlights.

Organized by the State Government and the Faepa/Senar System (Federation of Agriculture and Livestock of Pará/National Rural Learning Service), the Fair brings together exhibitors, local, national, and international brands.

More than 300 cocoa producers from different regions of Pará's Integration are participating in the event. This is the case of cocoa producer Lucileide Braga from the municipality of Novo Repartimento, from the Tuerê project. "I am here for the first time as an exhibitor and also as a leader of the women who thrive in Tuerê's Cocoa Cultivation. We plant, harvest, and to produce the product, I like to separate the cocoa, do the fermentation, and finish with cocoa powder, presenting it in jars and zero plastic," highlights the producer as a differential.

Program - Starting from the second day, the technical program will feature panels and renowned speakers, expanding the debate on sustainable production, innovation, and bioeconomy, in addition to the Fair that continues with creative cuisine, floral arrangement workshops, a contest for the best chocolate in Pará, and cultural attractions.

The Amazon and Flor Pará Cocoa and Chocolate Fair runs until next Sunday (8), at the Hangar Convention Center. For more information, visit the Sedap website.
