The suspect was intercepted by agents of the Federal Highway Police in the municipality of Pau D'Arco

The Civil Police of Pará arrested a man in the act for drug trafficking last Thursday (05), through the Pau D'Arco Police Station and with the support of the Federal Highway Police (PRF). The suspect was driving a truck loaded with approximately 496 kg of substances analogous to cocaine base paste and cocaine hydrochloride.
“The action began during a routine inspection by the PRF. Upon checking the truck driven by the suspect, the agents found a firearm in the vehicle's cabin. In light of this discovery, the man and the truck were immediately taken to the Pau D'Arco Police Station,” explained the regional superintendent of Araguaia, Luís Antônio Ferreira.
At the police station, during a thorough search of the vehicle, civil and federal police discovered the vast quantity of narcotics. “The drugs, which were hidden in the truck among a load of pineapples, totaled nearly half a ton. In addition to the narcotics, a 9mm pistol was seized, with a magazine containing 17 intact rounds,” reported Rodrigo Dias, the Pau D'Arco delegate.

The Justice of Pará, through the Criminal Court of Redenção, ordered the auction of the seized vehicle and the donation of the pineapple load to the City Hall of Pau D'Arco.
The suspect was charged in the act for drug trafficking and illegal possession of a firearm. He remains at the disposal of justice, and investigations are expected to continue to identify the origin and destination of the illicit cargo, as well as possible connections with criminal organizations operating in the region.
