The State University of Pará (Uepa), through its Graduate Program in Environmental Sciences (PPGCA), at the Center for Natural Sciences and Technology (CCNT) of the Belém campus, is conducting the 2025 call for Special Students until June 30. This is an opportunity for individuals with higher education to deepen their knowledge in environmental topics.

The 2025 call for Special Students is open to any member of society who has a higher education degree, that is, who has already graduated in any area of knowledge. To apply for registration, the candidate must go to the PPGCA secretariat, located in the building of the Center for Natural Sciences and Technology, situated at Enéas Pinheiro street, 2626, Marco, in Belém, from 2 PM to 5 PM.

For 2025, PPGCA is offering 160 vacancies for special students. Candidates can enroll in up to two subjects of the program. All subjects are offered in person and have a workload of 45 hours (equivalent to 3 credits). All details of the selection are available in the document provided here. More information can be obtained by phone at (91) 3284-9884, (91) 3131-1914 or by email: [email protected].

The main objective of this call is to allow graduates to enroll in isolated subjects offered by PPGCA. Upon successful completion, the special student will receive a Certificate of approval in the subject(s) taken. It is important to emphasize that the status of special student does not guarantee automatic admission to the regular master's or doctoral courses of PPGCA. However, if a candidate is approved in a future selection process for a regular student of the program, the subjects taken and approved as a special student may be credited towards their master's or doctoral curriculum, provided they were completed within two years prior to enrollment in the regular program.

PPGCA, approved by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes) since 2010, aims to train professionals capable of acting in teaching, research, and development in the environmental area, promoting interdisciplinary knowledge and mastery of technologies to understand and solve the challenges of human-environment relations, especially in the Amazonian reality.

VIII Summer School and III Week of Environment and Sustainability

Taking advantage of the academic calendar, the Graduate Program in Environmental Sciences is also open for registration for those interested in participating in the VIII Summer School and the III Week of Environment and Sustainability. The event will take place from July 1 to 3, 2025, at the Center for Natural Sciences and Technology of UEPA, in both in-person and remote formats. All information is available online here.

In this edition, lectures, panels, and 31 multidisciplinary mini-courses will be offered on topics of great academic, scientific, social, economic, environmental, and cultural relevance. The event is open to anyone interested in topics that present environmental interfaces, regardless of where they study or work, welcoming researchers, teachers, students of all levels, and the general community. Registrations are open and can be made until July 3 through the link provided in the announcement.
