Public Hospital of the East, in Paragominas, reinforces the importance of blood donation
Unit promoted an educational action involving users and companions
Anticipating the celebrations for the "World Blood Donor Day," celebrated this Saturday (14), the Regional Public Hospital of the East (HRPL), in Paragominas, held a health education action aimed at users and companions. The initiative, promoted in the central reception of the unit on Friday (13), addressed the importance of regular blood donation.
The activity was supported by the general management, the Human Resources department, the Permanent Education Center (NEP), and the hospital laboratory team, which distributed informational materials to the participants of the action.
Biomedical Amanda Barbosa, coordinator of the HRPL laboratory, emphasizes that talking about blood donation is, above all, talking about empathy, responsibility, and solidarity. "Often, in the rush of everyday life, we do not realize that a simple gesture can literally save lives," she states.
According to Amanda, donating blood is an act of profound impact: "I believe that if it is within our reach to help someone, why not do it? Donated blood can benefit accident victims, cancer patients, patients undergoing surgeries, among other delicate cases. And the most important thing: a single donation can help up to four people. Blood is not manufactured or sold; it only exists thanks to solidarity actions like this. In less than an hour, we can transform someone's life."
For Rafaela Sodré, nurse at the Permanent Education Center (NEP), "donating blood is a simple act that can save lives and also brings benefits to the donor's health. What may seem like a small gesture for the donor represents great hope for many, as blood is irreplaceable and there is no medication capable of substituting it."
Approval - Rafaela de Sousa Pereira, 41, was one of the users who participated in the action. "I didn't know the date, but now I see how important it is. Many people need it, and we never know if it will be us or someone close to us. That's why we need to help others. If everyone had more awareness, everyone would donate. My mother herself waited a long time because she has a rare blood type. Actions like this help to spread information and keep people well informed," pointed out the user.
