Documentary “Lampião, Governor of the Sertão” premieres at Cine Líbero Luxardo this Thursday, 19

In addition to the premieres, the week's programming also includes two special double features: “Memórias de Um Caracol” and the documentary “Ritas”, which will have a debate session on 19/09 at 19:30, promoted by the Pará Film Critics Association (ACCPA).

Starting this Thursday (19), Cine Líbero Luxardo presents its new programming, with sessions extending until next Wednesday (25). Among the highlights of the week are the national premieres of the feature films “Lampião, Governor of the Sertão”, by Wolney Oliveira, and “Prédio Vazio”, directed by Rodrigo Aragão. In addition to the releases, the cinema continues to screen the films “Memórias de Um Caracol” and the documentary “Ritas”, forming two special double features that remain in theaters.

One of the most emblematic characters in Brazilian history returns to the screens in a documentary that promises to provoke deep reflections. Directed by Wolney Oliveira, “Lampião, Governor of the Sertão” proposes a reinterpretation of the life and legacy of Virgulino Ferreira da Silva, the iconic leader of the cangaço.

More than a simple biography, the film dives into the complexity of Lampião, contrasting the figure of the “bandit or hero” with his symbolic dimension in Brazilian popular culture. With a historical approach and aesthetic sensitivity, the feature uses rare archives, documents, and oral narratives to reconstruct the trajectory of the cangaceiro and reflect on his permanence in the collective imagination.

Acclaimed at festivals, the documentary premiered in April at the 29th edition of É Tudo Verdade, was part of the programming of the 34th Cine Ceará, and was honored at the 19th Fest Aruanda, where it won four awards, including “Best Documentary”.

On the other hand, “Prédio Vazio” is a Brazilian psychological horror film, shot in Guarapari (ES), which follows Luna (Lorena Corrêa), a young woman who, on the last day of Carnival, begins the search for her missing mother. Her investigation leads her to an old building that appears to be abandoned, where she encounters dark secrets and supernatural presences.

With an oppressive atmosphere and a narrative filled with tension, the feature stands out for exploring the contrast between the carnival euphoria and the disturbing silence of the post-party. Aragão, known for works such as Mangue Negro and A Noite Amarela, claims that this is his “most urban, psychological, and dark” film.

Awarded at the 28th Tiradentes Film Show with the Retrato Filmes Award, which ensured its national distribution, the feature also stars Caio Macedo, Gilda Nomacce, and Rejane Arruda. Cine Líbero Luxardo announces new programming.

Double Features - After great public success, the documentary “Ritas” will have a debate session on 19/06 at 19:30, promoted by the Pará Film Critics Association (ACCPA). The feature will remain in theaters for another week in the city's most charming cinema.

Narrated by the singer herself, the film dives into her personal and professional journey, revealing not only the iconic artist on stage but also the woman ahead of her time.

With rare images, testimonials, and interviews, the documentary pays a sensitive and powerful tribute to the pioneer of national rock and a symbol of female representation in music.

Meanwhile, the film “À Procura de Um Caracol”, directed by Oscar winner Adam Elliot, has a 95% approval rating on the specialized review site Rotten Tomatoes. The production has already been nominated for over 70 awards worldwide, including the Oscar and the Golden Globe for “Best Animation”.

The plot follows Grace Pudel, a lonely girl passionate about books and ornamental snails. Separated from her twin brother in childhood, Grace is marked by anxiety and sadness. Her life changes when she meets Pinky, an eccentric and vibrant lady, with whom she develops a transformative friendship.
