Technology and innovation are important elements in building a quality education. Therefore, the Government of Pará, through the State Department of Education (Seduc), ensures that public schools in the network have access to the internet and quality materials with programs like “Conecta Educação” - where each school in the network receives a mobile cart/cabinet with 36 chromebooks allowing classrooms to transform into digital laboratories.

After ensuring that 100% of state schools are connected to the internet, Seduc now guarantees equipment for all units. The delivered chromebooks are being used in the school routine and are already transforming the way of teaching and learning throughout the state. Launched in February of this year, the initiative provides for the modernization of education and optimization of the routine of students and educators.

“The arrival of chromebooks in schools closes a very important triad because now we have institutional emails; we had the second phase, which is the provision of 100% of schools with quality internet; and now the equipment. This allows students and teachers access to all technologies, all websites, all educational resources that the internet and classes offer. The arrival of this equipment is an important step for students to now have a tool for internet access with speed, convenience, and security, all of which is manageable by the teacher and also manageable by Seduc to prevent the equipment from being used incorrectly. Another important point is the application of large-scale assessments, which now, with the arrival of chromebooks, many schools have already stopped doing assessments on paper, which reduces waste and speeds up results,” explained the director of Technological Resources at Seduc, Jo Elder Vasconcelos.

In Belém, the State High School Professora Albanízia de Oliveira Lima, in the Souza neighborhood, has increased engagement and facilitated access to digital content. “The chromebooks have come to add to our routine and, through them, we have access to various things that improve our study, our life as students. One of these things is that through them we can watch classes on YouTube, explaining a bit of the subject, some students who do not have access to a cell phone or internet come to school and can do this. So it is something that has been benefiting us more and more,” said 3rd-year high school student, Beatriz Carneiro.

According to her, the tool was also essential in facilitating registrations for the National High School Exam (Enem) 2025. “With the chromebooks we can access platforms that teachers recommend, do assignments, create spreadsheets. In addition, a crucial point was regarding the Enem registration. Many students did not have access to the internet or a cell phone and came to school and here they registered using the chromebook and, with that, we managed to close the class with 100% registered for the Enem. If you know how to use the tool, it will certainly add to your life, just as it adds to mine,” emphasized Beatriz.

The Portuguese Language teacher at the school, Lorena Rodrigues, believes that “Conecta Educação” has brought several possibilities for the development of students and quality education for educators. “I believe that the arrival of chromebooks at school was something wonderful because today we are in an increasingly technological, digital world, and our students need to learn to use these tools and need to have the opportunity to use these technologies. Many times the student does not have a computer at home, or sometimes they do not have a cell phone with internet, and the chromebooks allow students to research, do their activities, and we can use the plural platform, which is a platform that has various activities, and within it we also have the possibility to write essays,” she said.

In Ananindeua, in the Metropolitan Region of Belém, students from the Antônio Sampaio School, in the Icuí neighborhood, experience a more interactive and modern school routine. For the vice-principal of the unit that serves students from 1st to 5th grade of elementary school, the inclusion of chromebooks in classes is an innovative and very positive reality.

“This is a wonderful technology that has arrived at our school, an important tool that helps in the pedagogical work of the teacher in the classroom, together with our students, especially regarding time optimization. The student can do online activities, assessments, the simulated learning recovery, which they are super eager for. This technology came as a pedagogical support, where they can conduct research and increase their repertoire and knowledge and, when they take the Saeb assessment, they will certainly do well so that we can achieve and increase our average,” evaluated the manager, Cleude Freire.

5th-grade elementary school student, Jonata Davi Rodrigues, reinforces the importance of technology in school. “The chromebooks that arrived will help us in tests, in our assessment. We will have much more time and we will also help nature because we will use less paper,” he commented.

In the municipality of Marabá, in the Carajás Integration Region, southeast of Pará, the reality has also changed at the State School Rio Tocantins. The unit has adopted the equipment as a support tool in various pedagogical activities — from research and collaborative work to assessments.

“Computers become powerful allies in the teaching-learning process. In the subject of Biology, in particular, they expand the possibilities of access to various content, such as images, videos, and texts, which enrich students' understanding. It is a fantastic and extremely useful tool, which not only supports the teacher's work but also enhances the execution of activities in the classroom,” evaluated the teacher Allysson Quintino de Oliveira.

According to student Pedro Paulo Monteiro, from the 3rd year of high school, modernization in classroom teaching is fundamental and very beneficial. “I want to highlight the importance of this integration in the school environment, in our school, because we know that in the coming years, the trend is to have more and more technological advances, more and more integrations, both in the school environment and in the job market. And we know that those who cannot have this knowledge and skill end up being left behind. So, this is very beneficial for us, especially for those students who cannot afford to have these tools at home,” he stated.

Qualification - To ensure that technological resources are well utilized, Seduc has already started specific training for teachers in the state network, in partnership with Google for Education. The training aims to qualify teachers for the practical, safe, and pedagogically aligned use of chromebooks.

Modernization - In total, the “Conecta Educação” program will deliver 36,000 Chromebooks with mobile carts to all state schools, an investment of over R$ 64 million. In addition, schools have internet via fiber optic or Starlink satellite and ongoing training for education professionals. The proposal is to universalize access to technology, making public schools in Pará more connected, modern, and prepared for the challenges of current education.

In addition to “Conecta Educação”, in 2024 Seduc began distributing the “Kits Bora Estudar”, which provided satellite internet antennas to schools in the network. With this, all 975 state schools in Pará have internet, making Pará one of the few states to guarantee 100% connectivity in educational units.
