To reinforce security and ensure the tranquility of staff and inmates, the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Penitentiary Administration (Seap), initiated the General Inspection Operation last Wednesday (18), which will continue until next Monday (23), covering the 54 penal units of the state.

Coordinated by the Deputy Secretariat of Operational Management (SAGO), the action was closely monitored by the head of the department, Ringo Alex Rayol Frias, who highlighted the preventive nature of the operation. "This is an initiative that strengthens the control of the prison units and ensures safety for both the system operators and the detainees themselves," said the secretary.

The actions initially focused on the Santa Izabel do Pará Penitentiary Complex, with thorough inspections of cells, blocks, and personal searches. For this edition, the start time was changed, beginning around 2 PM and continuing until 7:30 PM. "We conducted the operation in a more cautious and detailed manner, to verify the conditions of the units and neutralize possible occurrences," added Ringo Alex.

The operation involved the participation of prison police from the units themselves and specialized teams from Seap, such as the Penitentiary Action Group (GAP), the Penitentiary Operations Command (COPE), and the Canine Operations Unit (NOC), which used three sniffer dogs during the searches.

According to the general director of the Santa Izabel Complex, Sergeant PM Jefferson Leite, no illegal occurrences were confirmed during the action. "This inspection strengthens our internal procedures and demonstrates the firm action of the State, always within legality, ensuring the physical and psychological integrity of the detainees," he stated.

The commander of the GAP, prison officer Almeida, highlighted that the work was also carried out in units located in Marabá, Vitória do Xingu, and Paragominas, totaling 22 operators involved. "It was another successful operation, without incidents and in accordance with official procedures," he pointed out.

At the Custody and Reintegration Unit IV, one of the 11 inspected that day, director Edvaldo Souza emphasized the importance of preventive actions during extended holiday periods.
"This work ensures that we can operate with excellence, maintaining internal security and avoiding any type of illegal situation," he concluded.

The General Inspection Operation continues, focusing on strengthening security and maintaining order in the Pará penitentiary system.
