Santa Casa conducts blood donation campaign in partnership with Hemopa
The campaign reinforces Red June, which aims to raise awareness among the population about the importance of blood donation

As a reference in maternal and child care and one of the institutions that perform high-complexity procedures in the state, such as liver and kidney transplants, the Santa Casa Foundation of Pará has a high demand for transfusions and therefore needs constant donations.
Laís Souza Lobo, a resident doctor at Santa Casa, made her donation and emphasized the act. "It is a fundamental, essential gesture, especially for us in the health field. We see that there are many patients who need transfusions, need donations, and having this stock at Hemopa is extremely important, especially for all blood types. Sometimes a patient needs a very specific type of blood, sometimes it is a patient who has already received several transfusions, so I think the least we can do is make this donation."
"Anyone who can, who has no contraindications, who is in good health, it is something that costs us nothing. We are not losing anything with this; it is something we will be able to recover and can do several times, so I think it is a great gesture. Both for us and for the next person, whoever the patient receiving this blood is, it could be a blood bag that will save their life. I think many people do not realize the good they are doing when they make this donation," points out the doctor.

For Carla Anique, a staff member at Santa Casa, who has been a donor for several years, the act of donation is precious. "It is very important to save lives, right? And the main intention is this: to donate to save, so I believe it is also an act of humanity that we feel good doing this good deed. And every time there is a donation here at Santa Casa, I do it with pleasure."
Partnership for good - A good deed that this year had the support of a national dance star, dancer, choreographer, and dance teacher Rolon Ho, who performed and gave a big class for the blood donors and support team present.
The Santa Casa Saúde e Vida Choir also performed at the opening of the event, bringing relaxation to those present.
These actions for blood collection are fundamental, as emphasized by Mateus Napoleão, an employee of a third-party company that provides services to Santa Casa. "I have been a donor for three years. And since then I participate in a project where we seek to save lives. Whenever there are programs here at Santa Casa, I participate, and it is gratifying to be able to donate and save lives because it is an act that helps people who are in hospitals."

Márcia Basílio, coordinator of the Transfusion Agency at Santa Casa, highlights the importance of the partnership with the Hemopa Foundation for the success of the blood donation campaign. "We have a public where we save the maternal-infant binomial daily. We have hematological patients who also need transfusions. And this campaign aims to restore blood stocks."
"Blood donation is a solidarity act and can save four lives. So it is very important to be part of this chain of good, saving lives, donating blood, with the donation code 158, which is the code for Santa Casa," emphasizes the coordinator of the Transfusion Agency.
During the campaign, held at Santa Casa this Thursday (25), 91 bags of blood were collected. Any person between 16 and 60 years old, who is healthy and weighs 50 kilograms or more can be a blood donor. Minors under 18 must be accompanied by parents or guardians. Every candidate must go to the donation site with an identity document.
