Thursday night (3) was filled with emotion, joy, and many cultural dances at the Opening Ceremony of the XIV edition of the Open Games of Pará (Joapa), marking the start of the fourth phase of the Rio Caeté region, in the host municipality of Salinópolis. The opening event was held at the "Zeca Faustino" Sports Gym, located in Luiz de Sousa Bentes Square, bringing together around 502 athletes from six participating municipalities.

This stage includes delegations from Bragança, Ourém, Primavera, Santarém Novo, São João de Pirabas, and Salinópolis competing in five modalities: basketball, futsal, beach soccer, volleyball, and table tennis.

The Joapa is an initiative of the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Sports and Leisure (Seel), to strengthen sports and promote social inclusion through sports practice throughout the state. "A beautiful opening bringing together all participating municipalities. Another effort to promote and value amateur sports carried out by the Government of Pará, through Seel,” highlighted the State Secretary of Sports, Cássio Andrade.

The opening ceremony featured presentations of cultural dances and carimbó, celebrating local culture and further integrating the participants. The Joapa encompasses all 144 municipalities in Pará, divided into ten regional stages, which define the champions of each phase and award the best performances with the Efficiency Trophy.

Bragança-PA volleyball athlete, Clarissa Oliveira, celebrated her participation in the event. "It is a very special participation, it is a highly anticipated event, well regarded by all amateur athletes in our state, especially from our Bragantina region. We come from Bragança, which is a region that invests a lot in sports, especially in volleyball, so participating in this event is very important, especially as amateur athletes. We always have to be highlighted within the scene, and we are very grateful to the Government of Pará for this great event,” said the athlete.

The competitions will continue until next Sunday (6), when the winners of this phase of the Rio Caeté region will be announced.
