Fire Department acts in environmental awareness actions at Atalaia beach
Trash collection points and distribution of bags are some of the activities developed by the institution during the summer in Salinas
Teams from the Military Fire Department, along with other state and municipal security agencies, are developing environmental awareness actions at Atalaia beach in Salinópolis, northeastern Pará. On the morning of this Saturday, the 5th, the agents distributed bags for trash storage to beachgoers. The activity aims to maintain cleanliness on the sand and promote conscious disposal of waste produced by beachgoers to avoid environmental pollution.

“The Fire Department, along with Civil Defense, plays a very important role during the summer period, as they are the agents closest to beachgoers, not only in monitoring and ensuring their safety but also in guiding and raising awareness for environmental preservation, identifying children, and providing urgent and emergency assistance that may arise,” said the Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense, Ualame Machado.
The commander of the Salinas Fire Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Rodrigo Martins, highlights the actions that the agents carry out on the beach and the partnership with the hotel network during the month of July in combating pollution and environmental degradation.

“Here in the municipality of Salinópolis, the State Public Security and Social Defense System, in partnership with municipal agencies, the commercial association, and the hotel network in the municipality, develops a project entitled 'Safe Lighthouse: Illuminating Care in Salinópolis', which has several branches for the protection of tourists, the local community, and all the population that comes to know the municipality. One of these branches on the beach is environmental awareness, where all agencies come together to create conditions for the establishment and operation of eco-points. This project also includes campaigns so that we can go to summer visitors and tourists, guiding them regarding our decree, which also prohibits the use of glass bottles on the beach, and campaigns aimed at reducing the amount of solid waste on the beach. All to ensure that tourists can have much more safety, reducing the number of accidents with sharp objects on the beach,” emphasized the commander of the CBM Group, Lieutenant Colonel Rodrigo.
The lawyer and geologist, Cícero Menezes, has enjoyed the summer period on the beaches of Salinas for years and emphasizes the importance of the Fire Department's actions and the presence of security agencies in protecting the environment.

“This action here is fundamental; it is a state action present in the lives of the population, especially on the beach during leisure time, so that we can help preserve nature by avoiding the disposal of glass and other materials on the sand. We also know that to have safety, it is necessary to respect it. I, for example, do not drink alcohol; I drink non-alcoholic beer to be able to drive safely, and thus, I have opted for cans, and with the bags we received from the firefighters and the ones we brought from home, we store all the trash we produce. So this is very important for a safe vacation for everyone and a clean beach,” he emphasized.
Prevention and Civil Defense
Present in the integrated actions carried out in the municipality, the teams from the Civil Defense Coordination, linked to the Fire Department, are also working together in accident prevention, providing guidance to beachgoers regarding tide movements and identifying children on the beaches.
The Civil Defense coordinator, Lieutenant BM Lacy Amâncio, emphasizes the work developed and the importance of guiding everyone to minimize and avoid common accidents that occur during this period on the beaches and resorts.
“Civil Defense is present in this integrated action, working on the prevention of major accidents, guiding beachgoers and the public present here in Salinópolis during this period. We also identify children, as there is a very large flow during this vacation period, and in case there is an occurrence of lost children, they can be found and directed to their guardians. We work together with the lifeguards who are on the shore, specifically in search, rescue, and lifesaving services, always emphasizing the importance of prevention. Prevention is essential so that we do not allow accidents to happen,” said the coordinator.

On vacation with his family, businessman Dinho Lima was one of those who benefited from the identification service for his daughter on the beach. The businessman commented on the care that the security teams are taking with children, but also in maintaining order on the beach. “I find this work of identifying children very valid, as parents can get distracted and quickly children get lost; this way, we know they will be identified and found. He also highlighted the presence of police on the beach and the actions taken to maintain tranquility here at Atalaia,” he said.
