Action carries out environmental education, land regularization, and release of wild animals in Soure
The program takes place from July 8 to 13, with activities focused on environmental regularization, environmental education, and community mobilization, involving residents, municipal managers, and tourists.

Focusing on environmental protection and strengthening sustainable public policies, the Institute of Forest Development and Biodiversity (Ideflor-Bio) began this week the actions of the Administrative Region Management of Marajó (GRM) within the Summer Operation 2025 of the Government of Pará. The program started in the municipality of Soure, from July 8 to 13, with activities aimed at environmental regularization, environmental education, and community mobilization, involving residents, municipal managers, and tourists.
One of the main highlights of the initial program was the Regularization Mutirão via Environmental Protection Quota (CPA), aimed at providing free technical and legal support for rural producers interested in regularizing their properties with legal reserve liabilities. The CPA is a title that represents one hectare of Integral Protection Conservation Unit and can be used as a legal mechanism for environmental compensation or voluntary conservation. During the mutirão, in addition to detailed guidance, participants had access to the digital certification process and referral to the State Secretariat for the Environment, Climate, and Sustainability (Semas) for the formalization of regularization.
Another important area of action in Soure was the training of staff from the Municipal Secretariat of the Environment, with theoretical and practical activities on current environmental legislation and the routine procedures of an environmental agency. One of the memorable moments occurred on July 9, when four specimens of Sporophila lineola (known as bigodinhos) were received, seized by the Civil Police. After a physical evaluation by Ideflor-Bio, two individuals were deemed fit for release, while the other two, still in feather molt, were sent to Mangal das Garças in Belém for rehabilitation. The cages used were destroyed and disposed of properly.

Technical Guidance - During the training, the technical team also visited a local leather salting enterprise, where they advised the owner on more sustainable practices that can add value to the product and reduce environmental impacts. The initiative is part of the Institute's approach to promote productive development alongside the conservation of natural resources, with low-cost solutions accessible to small entrepreneurs in the region.
In parallel with the regularization actions, Ideflor-Bio developed playful environmental education activities in the community areas of Soure, with a special focus on children. The setup included board games, conscious fishing, painting workshops, and educational quizzes on topics such as the conservation of the Environmental Protection Area (APA) of the Marajó Archipelago, combating predatory fishing, climate change, and solid waste. At the end of the activities, children received gifts as recognition for their involvement in the actions.
On July 9 and 10, local schools also received Ideflor-Bio's mini environmental gincanas. The activities involved planting seedlings, selective collection, ecological games, and workshops with recyclable materials. The proposal aims to stimulate environmental awareness from childhood, with a fun and participatory approach, promoting respect for nature and a sense of community.

Program - The Summer Operation 2025 in Marajó by Ideflor-Bio will continue until early August, passing through other municipalities of the archipelago such as Cachoeira do Arari, Salvaterra, Ponta de Pedras, and Afuá. In each locality, the program includes mutirões of regularization via CPA, training, actions on beaches and fairs, in addition to the traditional release of turtles, scheduled for July 20 (Sunday) at 9 am at Praia Grande de Salvaterra, in partnership with Mangal das Garças. The initiative reinforces the commitment of the Government of Pará to the protection of biodiversity and the sustainable development of the Marajó region.
The manager of the Administrative Region of Marajó, Hugo Dias, emphasizes that "the integrated action of Ideflor-Bio promotes a more conscious, educational summer committed to the future of the environment, involving different sectors of society in building a greener, fairer, and more resilient Marajó."
