Jean Bitar Hospital ends the first semester with over 236,000 services
The unit also recorded 93% in user satisfaction index

The Jean Bitar Hospital (HJB), located in Belém, ended the first semester of 2025 maintaining the pillars of quality, safety, and humanization in the provision of services to users of the Unified Health System (SUS) in Pará. Linked to the State Government, the hospital is managed by the National Institute of Social and Human Development (INDSH), in partnership with the State Department of Public Health (Sespa).
From January to June of this year, the unit totaled 236,560 relevant services, maintaining the user satisfaction index above 93%. Among the main services provided during the period, 35,983 medical and non-medical outpatient services, 1,628 hospitalizations, 1,906 surgeries, 191,092 general exams, and 5,951 multiprofessional sessions stand out.

Patient Diana Bolhosa, 44 years old, a resident of Belém and undergoing thyroid treatment for three years at HJB, approved the improvements.
“I can see that the flow of service has improved a lot. I am being attended to much faster, thanks to the call center, which came to expedite things. Now I will use it to schedule my appointments; I have always been well attended here and do all my procedures,” said Diana Bolhosa.
With a focus on continuous improvement of assistance to the population, HJB management highlighted important achievements and advances in the first semester of 2025:
- Blood donation campaigns, benefiting about 504 patients and contributing to the maintenance of the stock of the Hemopa Foundation, essential for the public and private hospital network in Pará.
- Recognition for the 7th consecutive year with the Green Kitchen seal, granted by the Environmental Research Foundation / USP (FUPAM), due to the quality standard in the production of healthy food.

- International I-REC certification (Renewable Energy Certificate), which certifies the use of clean energy in the hospital unit.
- The Zero Obesity program, launched in September 2020, reached the mark of 2,172 bariatric surgeries performed by June of this year.
- Implementation of the Call Center service, aimed at optimizing in-person service, reducing queues, and increasing user satisfaction through an agile, effective, and personalized system for scheduling outpatient appointments.
- Partnership with a public state school, through the project “Gincana Pequenos Guardiões,” which promotes environmental awareness among young students.

- Hosting the opening of the I North Congress on Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery, promoted by the Brazilian Society of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery (Chapters Amazonas, Pará, and Rondônia), bringing together specialists from various health fields.
The hospital administrator and executive director of Jean Bitar Hospital, Giovani Merenda, emphasized the unit's commitment to quality public health and the advances achieved in this first semester.
“Our commitment is to continue innovating and qualifying health assistance. The significant numbers and the high user satisfaction index reflect a joint effort, carried out with responsibility, dedication, and focus on humanization. The first semester of 2025 reaffirms that we are on the right path to offer efficient and dignified public service to the population of Pará,” he stated.
