Castanhal receives three security totems from the State to ensure 24-hour monitoring
Government expands public safety with the delivery of equipment featuring 360° cameras, strengthening emergency response services

Three public safety totems were delivered by the Government of Pará on Wednesday (23) in the municipality of Castanhal, which is part of the Metropolitan Region of Belém. The equipment is installed at strategic points in the city: Avenida Barão do Rio Branco, Alameda Tiradentes, and Avenida Rio Branco with Travessa Holanda Pessoa. The aim is to monitor the movement of people, ensuring greater agility in responding to urgent and emergency occurrences, with a wider angle and visual coverage from the point where it was installed to nearby areas.

In the presence of Vice Governor Hana Ghassan, who emphasized the importance of the totems' technology for the safety of the population of Castanhal.
“These totems come to complement security actions, as they feature cutting-edge technology, such as cameras with the capability to monitor the entire area around them, as well as an emergency button, where those in need of assistance can speak directly with an operator. All to further enhance safety in the city,” she reinforced.

The Secretary of State for Public Safety and Social Defense, Ualame Machado, detailed the functionality of the equipment. “Castanhal now has three security totems installed in strategic locations in the city, so that through the Integrated Operations Center of Segup (Ciop) we can monitor the surrounding areas with a security camera that also identifies, through artificial intelligence, fugitives from justice, as well as license plates of stolen or robbed vehicles. It will also be possible to contact our Emergency Response Center via channel 190 for incident reporting, should anyone need assistance in the areas where the totem is present,” emphasized Ualame Machado.

Monitoring - The security totem speeds up the transfer of strategic information between security forces and performs video monitoring through a 360° camera, ensuring total coverage of adjacent areas. The equipment features a dome camera, allowing the system operator to zoom in on actions of greater interest for public safety in the region, as well as a front camera near the emergency button, enabling the user to interact in real-time with the security agent responding to the call at Ciop. The totem also includes a sound alarm, a long-range speaker, and real-time locator.
More than 50 units are already distributed across the State, and by the end of 2025, an additional 50 units will be operational, totaling 100 high-tech totems to enhance security strategies.
