Pará concludes municipal conferences on policies for promoting racial equality
Mobilization concluded in Soure, in Marajó, prepared proposals for the State Conference, which will take place in August this year
The Municipal Conference for the Promotion of Racial Equality in the municipality of Soure, in the Marajó Archipelago, was held this Friday (25), concluding the cycle of municipal conferences before the State Conference scheduled for August. With the support of the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat for Racial Equality and Human Rights (Seirdh), and the State Council for the Promotion of Racial Equality Policy (Coneppir), 27 conferences were organized by local administrations.

The Municipal Conferences for the Promotion of Racial Equality were promoted through articulations and incentives from Seirdh. According to the head of the Secretariat, Edilza Fontes, teams from the Directorate of Racial Equality (DIR) visited the municipalities to emphasize the importance of the event. “In many cities, this was the first edition, which represents a milestone and reinforces the State government's commitment to promoting racial equality,” explained the secretary.

Preparation - With the theme “Equality and Democracy: Reparation and Racial Justice,” the dialogues held in each municipality lead to the State Conference for the Promotion of Racial Equality, which will take place on August 20 and 21, and will send 63 delegates to the national stage, the 5th National Conference for the Promotion of Racial Equality (Conapir), from September 15 to 19, in Brasília (DF).

“A adesão proporciona o acesso a recursos, capacitações, apoio técnico e programas voltados à equidade racial. Além de firmar compromisso institucional com a justiça social e a construção de uma sociedade mais inclusiva e democrática”, ressaltou.
