Bragança waterfront: a safe, beautiful, and tranquil destination in the region

Spaces that encourage sports, leisure, and culture, 23 new waterfronts built and rebuilt by the State Government, are among the main options for outings this Amazon summer. Tourism, the economy, and quality of life are factors boosted by the spaces that transform daily life for the better in cities in Pará's riverine and coastal regions.

“The waterfront works that have already been delivered by the Government of Pará and those that are still under construction in Pará municipalities are becoming spaces for contemplation by our beautiful rivers and also encourage the practice of sports, leisure, and culture activities, improving the quality of life for the population, as well as generating jobs and income from the great tourism potential of the state's cities,” emphasizes Ruy Cabral, Secretary of Public Works (Seop).

Since 2019, the Government of Pará has delivered 23 waterfront projects in municipalities, including Bagre, Barcarena, Bragança, Colares, Curuçá, Peixe-Boi, Salinópolis, Salvaterra, Breu Branco, Igarapé-Miri, Irituia, Muaná, Tucuruí, Augusto Corrêa, Santarém, Quatipuru, Afuá, and São Caetano de Odivelas. In addition to the waterfront in the urban center, Marapanim has already received the same restructuring in the Villages of Marudazinho and Monte Alegre do Maú. Currently, another 12 waterfronts are under construction, and the State Government's goal is to build 34 waterfronts by the end of 2026.

Delivered in early July, the Marapanim waterfront received new pier, snack bar, restrooms, kiosks, deck, new concrete ramp, lighting system with LED lamps, as well as a concrete protective wall. Since 2019, this is the third waterfront delivered by the Government of Pará to the municipality of Marapanim. Before the waterfront in the city center, public equipment had already been delivered in the Villages of Marudazinho and Monte Alegre do Maú.

Bragança development - Tour guide Clei Feitosa, a resident of Bragança, highlights that the structure of the new waterfront by the Caeté River, delivered in 2023, has become a safe, beautiful, and tranquil destination in the region. “The city has become even more visited by sports practitioners, cyclists, lovers of good regional food, locals, and tourists who come from afar to know the Pearl of Caeté. Previously, the city lacked a space for cultural events that valued leisure. We are already feeling the positive results from the investment,” he comments.

The Ajuruteua waterfront, according to professor Elton Barbosa, a resident of Xinguara, does not leave anything to be desired compared to other leisure facilities. “The structure turned out excellent, Bragança really needed a waterfront like this. For me, it is the first option for outings during the July holidays. Having a waterfront with this new structure is an extra incentive to visit,” he says.

The tourism and commerce sectors are the main beneficiaries, in practice, with the spaces, as the new waterfronts are an excellent meeting and visitation point. A tourist from Salinópolis, electrician Gilsandro Baia, a resident of Belém, points out the importance of state investments in the municipality.

“The waterfront and the Maçarico walkway are great, it's a very exciting option to enjoy during the July holidays. After the construction, they are very inviting places, with options for restaurants, ice cream shops, and closer contemplation of the sea,” concludes Gilsandro Baia.
