Anyone who has suffered a fracture, lives with chronic pain, or faced an injury knows that time is an ally — and that having quick access to an orthopedist can make all the difference in recovery. At the Metropolitan Polyclinic of Pará, in Belém, this care is taken seriously.

The unit of the Government of Pará, managed by the Amazon Social and Environmental Health Institute (ISSAA), is a reference in orthopedic and traumatological care, offering specialized consultations, on-site exams, and integration with other services for comprehensive treatment.

Orthopedic doctor Renato Arraes Campos explains that the service caters to patients from all over the state, in addition to internal demands. “We have consultations with specialist doctors in orthopedics and traumatology, and we serve referred patients from all over the state and also from the unit itself,” he explains.

Among the most common cases are degenerative diseases, joint disorders, injuries to the musculoskeletal system, and follow-up of traumas and complications arising from other SUS services.

Diagnosis - One of the differentiators of orthopedics at the Polyclinic is the ability to perform exams on-site. “The patient has access to various exams to assist in their diagnosis and most appropriate treatment, from X-rays and ultrasounds to more complex exams, such as computed tomography,” highlights Renato.

In addition, for cases that require follow-up with other specialists, the unit adopts a multidisciplinary treatment model, allowing chronic diseases that affect more than one system to be treated in an integrated manner.

Care - The capacity for care is up to 800 monthly consultations, with a low waiting list. For rehabilitation, the Polyclinic maintains partnerships with SUS institutions and universities, ensuring that patients have access to physiotherapy and therapies that provide significant improvement — and, in many cases, even cure. “All professionals undergo annual training to stay updated and provide good care to the population,” reinforces the orthopedist.

The service also focuses on prevention. Among the recommendations to avoid injuries, especially in the elderly and people who engage in physical activities, are daily posture guidance, lifestyle changes, specific treatments, and exercises adapted to each profile.

Service - Access to the Metropolitan Polyclinic is made through the State Regulation Center. Interconsultations and exams can be scheduled through the Relationship Center via WhatsApp Business, at the number (91) 98521-5110, or by email [email protected].

It is necessary to present ID, CPF, SUS card, and proof of residence. Children without ID can present a birth certificate and documents from the mother.
