Students had contact with professionals who develop research and practices in Telecommunications, Automation, and Electronics
The Guamá Science and Technology Park (PCT) received, on Thursday (21), delegations from the Federal Institute of Pará (IFPA), Castanhal campus, and the Federal Institute of Maranhão (IFMA), Viana campus. In total, about 100 participants, including high school and technical students and teachers, participated in the visit.
The program began with an institutional presentation of PCT Guamá and the Guamá Foundation, followed by Inteceleri, a resident company specialized in developing technological solutions for education. Next, the IFPA group visited the facilities and projects of S&L Engenharia, while the IFMA visitors had contact with the Research and Development Center in Telecommunications, Automation, and Electronics (Lasse) and the Biological Engineering Laboratory (Engebio), both from the Federal University of Pará (UFPA) and located in the innovation complex.
Students learned about the Research and Development Center in Automation and Electronics (Lasse) and the Biological Engineering Laboratory (Engebio), Federal University of Pará (UFPA), at the PCT.
“It was a moment of learning and inspiration, allowing our students to experience an environment that breathes technology, entrepreneurship, and innovation. We are immensely grateful to the entire team at PCT Guamá for the warm reception and for the opportunity to provide this experience, which will certainly broaden horizons and motivate new projects,” highlighted IFPA computer science professor, Diego Smith.
For IFMA computer science professor, Elisiane Soares, the visit was an opportunity to closely learn about innovative projects developed in the Park. “Without a doubt, it was an enriching experience for teachers and, especially, for our students, as it provided a view beyond the classroom, showing in practice how the theories taught connect to real solutions that impact society.”
How to schedule visits
Institutions interested in visiting PCT Guamá can schedule guided tours by emailing [email protected]. The tours are free, upon prior scheduling, and include an institutional lecture and a personalized itinerary according to the group's interests. Reference in innovation in the Amazon
PCT Guamá is an initiative of the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Science, Technology, and Higher, Professional, and Technological Education (Sectet), in partnership with UFPA and the Federal Rural University of the Amazon (Ufra), and managed by the Guamá Foundation.
It is the first technological park in the Northern region of Brazil, aiming to stimulate applied research and innovative and sustainable entrepreneurship, in order to improve the quality of life of the population.
Located on the banks of the Guamá River, which gives its name to the complex, PCT is situated between the campuses of the two universities and has an ecosystem rich in biodiversity, extending over 72 hectares, designated for buildings and the Environmental Protection Area (APA) of the Metropolitan Region of Belém.
The complex consists of more than 30 resident companies (physically installed in the Park), over 40 associates (linked to the Park but not physically installed), 12 research laboratories for process and product development, and the State School of Technological Education (EETEPA) Dr. Celso Malcher.
PCT Guamá is part of the National Association of Entities Promoting Innovative Enterprises (Anprotec) and the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (Iasp), and is part of the largest innovation ecosystem in the world.
