Setur concludes Trail and Hiking course in Magalhães Barata
Known as the "city of igarapés", Magalhães Barata has about 150 cataloged igarapés, many of which are already structured to receive visitors in trails, bathing areas, and natural landscapes.

The Secretary of Tourism of Pará (Setur), in partnership with the Military Fire Brigade and the City Hall of Magalhães Barata, concluded this Friday (22) the Trail and Hiking Course, an initiative aimed at training guides for visitors in parks, preservation areas, and environmental protection. The training, carried out through the Coordination of Public Policies for Tourism and the Professional Qualification Management of Setur, aimed to encourage ecotourism and value the environment as a source of sustainable development.
In the first week of activities, participants received guidance on tourism, taught by instructor Letícia Freitas from the State Environmental Secretary (Sema), and on Trail Guiding Techniques, with instructor Diego Barros from Amazônia Aventura. In the second week, students underwent practical training in Pre-Hospital Care (APH), focusing on first aid in trails and communities, taught by military personnel from the Castanhal Fire Brigade, Sergeant Bittencourt and Soldier Raniere.
The course brought together residents from various communities, such as Prainha and Nazaré do Fugido, and reinforced Setur's commitment to promoting community tourism. Known as the "City of Igarapés", Magalhães Barata has about 150 cataloged igarapés, many of which are already structured to receive visitors in trails, bathing areas, and natural landscapes. The municipality has been consolidating itself as a nature destination, offering authentic experiences of contact with the Amazonian biodiversity.

For the Director of Tourism of Magalhães Barata, Ronaldo Adriano, the initiative strengthened the municipality's positioning. "Magalhães Barata has a great natural wealth, and training local guides ensures safe, educational, and enriching experiences for visitors, valuing the natural beauty and the history and culture of the municipality," he stated.
The conclusion of the course represented an important step in structuring ecological and sustainable tourism in the municipality. The expectation is that the new guides will act in the reception and guidance of visitors, increasing income generation and strengthening the local economy.
According to the Secretary of Tourism of Pará, Eduardo Costa, the training is aligned with the State's strategy for the future. "This action was part of a larger set to strengthen ecotourism in Pará and boost the sustainable development of communities. The training of environmental guides is essential to ensure safe and enriching experiences for tourists while promoting the conservation of natural resources," he emphasized.
