In Ananindeua, Hemopa's collection center celebrates two years with over 73 thousand people benefited
Unit in Shopping Metrópole totals over 18 thousand blood donations and reinforces the importance of decentralizing hemotherapy services in the Metropolitan Region of Belém

The Collection Post of the Pará Hemotherapy and Hematology Center Foundation (Hemopa), located in Shopping Metrópole, Ananindeua, celebrated two years of operation this Monday (25), establishing itself as a reference for solidarity and access to hemotherapy services in the Metropolitan Region of Belém. Since its opening, the unit has received 22,879 visits, resulting in 18,327 blood donations, which directly benefited 73,308 people.
Located in one of the largest commercial centers in Ananindeua, the post aims to bring the act of donating blood closer to the daily lives of the population, offering practicality, safety, and comfort. In two years, the space has shown its relevance in strengthening the state blood network, helping to maintain blood stocks at safe levels and ensuring care for patients undergoing treatment throughout Pará.
According to the president of the Hemopa Foundation, Paulo Bezerra, the decentralization of blood collection in the Metropolitan Region of Belém has been essential to expand the reach of the service and stimulate the solidarity of the population.
“Decentralization is part of Hemopa's strategy to be increasingly close to the population, encouraging and promoting blood donation. The Collection Post at Shopping Metrópole is a highly rewarding example, as it has brought significant growth in the number of donations and contributed to the increase of new donors,” he highlighted.
The manager also emphasized the direct impact of the unit on the supply of the state blood network. “Today, we have an average of 30 daily collections at Metrópole, which generates a significant stock to meet the hospital network in transfusion procedures. It is a gain not only for Ananindeua but for all of Pará, which depends on the gesture of solidarity from volunteers to save lives,” reinforced the president.
For Hemopa's doctor, Heidrian Adam, decentralization has been fundamental to expand the reach of the service. “We are very happy to celebrate these two years of the unit. Here in the heart of Ananindeua, we have managed to welcome the local community and reinforce the importance of donating blood. The entire Hemopa team is prepared to receive donors with respect and care,” he stated.

The social worker from the Donor Recruitment Management, Marcela Silva, highlighted that the unit has expanded Hemopa's reach in the region. “In these two years, we have seen a significant increase in donations and visits. We serve donors from Ananindeua, Marituba, Santa Bárbara, and Benevides. This shows the importance of decentralization to maintain stocks and ensure care for hospitals in Pará,” she emphasized.

The population also recognizes the importance of having a nearby unit. This was the case of cleaner Maria Francileide Cunha Oliveira, who made her first donation motivated by the fight of a friend's son against leukemia.
"Blood is life, it saves lives. I came to donate because this father is a very dear person and his son is in need. Having this unit here at Metrópole makes it much easier, because going to Belém would be very far," highlighted the resident of the Curuçambá neighborhood in Ananindeua.

In addition to reinforcing the institutional commitment to decentralizing the service, the Collection Post has also been a space for social mobilization, receiving regular donors and new volunteers motivated to contribute to the cause.
