The macrodrainage works on the Bengui and Marambaia channels have reached over 90% completion and are solidifying as part of the legacy of the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30). With the completion of the services, Belém will have a more efficient drainage system and modernized urban infrastructure.

The project includes the rectification of nearly 1.9 kilometers of channel, the implementation of water supply networks, sewage systems, and efficient drainage. It also provides for the construction of seven bridges, three walkways, and a square equipped with a sports court, playground, and outdoor gym, reinforcing the integration between infrastructure and quality of life. According to the State Department of Public Works (Seop), approximately 200,000 residents will benefit from improved sanitation, mobility, and urbanization conditions.

In June, the requalification of Rua das Rosas was completed, which received new paving, drainage, curbs, sidewalks, and signage. The road has become a strategic circulation corridor, connecting Avenida Centenário to Rodovia Augusto Montenegro.

“We are in the final stretch of the macrodrainage works on the Marambaia and Bengui channels. The delivery of Rua das Rosas was an important milestone within the project, which will transform the region with modern and safe infrastructure,” said the Deputy Secretary of Public Works, Gilmar Mota. “The services are already bringing improvements to the quality of life for the surrounding population, as water now flows more smoothly, reducing flooding,” he added, reflecting the state's commitment to ensuring that local communities directly benefit from the interventions.
