The Military Police of Pará, through the 9th Battalion (9th BPM) of the XII Regional Police Command (CPR XII – Western Marajó), seized about 600 kg of cocaine on the morning of this Monday (1st), during an inspection in the municipality of Cachoeira do Piriá, in Vila Alto Bonito.

The operation began around 10 a.m. After identifying irregularities in a truck and suspicion of a package containing white powder found in a separate compartment from the cargo, the Military Police team conducted a thorough search and located 23 more packages similar to cocaine. One of the volumes was sent to the Federal Highway Police (PRF) post, where a narcotest was performed, confirming it was cocaine.

3rd Sergeant Diogo Freitas, who led the occurrence, highlighted the team's work: "The quick action of the Military Police, combined with the partnership with the Federal Highway Police, was essential to confirm that the seized substance was cocaine. This integration between security forces strengthens the fight against drug trafficking and reinforces the commitment to protect our population," he emphasized.

With the confirmation, the PM team arrested the truck driver, a native of Maranhão. He was taken to the Cachoeira do Piriá Police Station, where the case was presented.

The seized material included, in addition to 24 boxes of 25 kg each, about 600 kg of cocaine; 101 barrels of sodium hypochlorite; a truck, among other items such as a watch; necklace; keys; glasses; cell phone; and seven invoices.

The general commander of PMPA, Colonel Dilson Júnior, emphasized the importance of the seizure: "This large seizure is the result of the competence and dedication of our military police officers, who acted with rigor and responsibility. The removal of 600 kilograms of cocaine from circulation weakens the actions of organized crime and protects thousands of families in Pará from the harmful effects of drug trafficking. We will remain firm in our mission to ensure the safety of the population and preserve social peace throughout the State," he noted.

The operation was supported by the Federal Highway Police and reinforces the commitment of the Military Police of Pará to serve and protect the population, combating drug trafficking and ensuring the safety of the region.
