Ophir Loyola Hospital launches Ophir+ Education in Health Teaching Center
Teaching, research, and innovation will be united in the new space to qualify professionals and strengthen oncological care in the Amazon

Ophir Loyola Hospital (HOL), a reference in oncology in the North region, officially presented, this Wednesday (3), to the hospital community, its "Ophir+ Education in Health" Teaching Center, an initiative that consolidates the institution's mission to integrate assistance, research, and professional training, expanding its role as a center of excellence in health care.
Training and Qualification
The center arises to meet a long-standing desire of the hospital community: to offer courses aimed at doctors, nurses, nutritionists, psychologists, dentists, and other health professionals, focusing on cancer treatment.
According to the Director of Teaching and Research, Erick Pedreira, the creation of the center represents a milestone for the hospital: “The teaching center has always been a desire of the Ophir Loyola community. We made a point of prioritizing the faculty from within the institution, so they can share their practical experience with both patients and students, strengthening our mission to share the knowledge produced here.”
In the first phase, short courses will be offered, with a workload between 20 and 180 hours, in a theoretical-practical format. Enrollment will be open to health professionals regularly registered with their respective councils.
The academic and administrative management will be carried out in partnership with the Foundation for Support and Development of Research (Fadesp). “It is essential for us to collaborate with colleges, universities, and regional hospitals, so that professionals from different areas can qualify at HOL,” added Director Erick.
Research as a Strategic Pillar
Scientific research is another differential of Ophir+ Education in Health. According to the Research Coordinator, Andrezza Coêlho, the goal is to transform clinical experience into innovation and more effective protocols: “The knowledge produced in the hospital will not be restricted to immediate care but will be translated into innovation and evidence that expand the impact on patient care. The proximity between practice and investigation ensures more accurate diagnoses, safer treatments, and more humanized protocols.”
Regional Reference
With about 15,000 monthly consultations, of which 70% are oncology patients, HOL is the largest high-complexity oncology center in the North region. This scenario makes the new teaching center a privileged space for the training of professionals and scientific production.
“We are fully confident that we will be able to provide students with quality knowledge because we have professionals who value life, ethics, and professionalism. This is the legacy we want to leave for future generations,” concluded Erick Pedreira.
The launch of Ophir+ Education in Health represents a decisive step in consolidating Ophir Loyola as a regional reference in training, research, and innovation. More than qualifying professionals, the initiative reinforces the hospital's vocation to unite teaching, science, and assistance, expanding its social and scientific impact in the Amazon. Soon, enrollment for the first courses will be open to health professionals from various fields.
