Codec articulates partnership with global packaging giant to attract new investments to Pará
Data from a study being prepared by Codec indicates that the packaging market in Pará generates R$ 570 million per year, but relies mainly on external suppliers

The Economic Development Company of Pará (Codec) held an online meeting on Monday (8) with JBT Marel, one of the largest global companies in the food machinery and packaging sector. The meeting marked the first presentation of the State after participating in the International Packaging Fair (Fispal) in São Paulo and already pointed to steps aimed at attracting investments for the sector in Pará.
Being prepared by Codec's technical team, a market study reveals that the packaging segment generates approximately R$ 570 million per year in the State, but still heavily depends on suppliers from other States, which increases costs and compromises the competitiveness of strategic production chains such as food, beverages, fertilizers, palm oil, and açaí.
Codec's Investment Attraction Manager, Sabrina Sena, who participated in Fispal and facilitated the contact with the company, emphasized the importance of the approach. “Pará has a growing economy and needs to attract the packaging industry to support the existing and expanding production chains. This sector is strategic to consolidate the State as a competitive, innovative, and sustainable hub,” she highlighted.
Codec's Director of Investment Attraction and Business, Manoel Ibiapina, reinforced that Pará has unique conditions to receive new enterprises. “Our role is to bring the productive sector of the State closer, creating conditions for new ventures to find in Pará a competitive, sustainable, and safe environment to invest,” he stated.
Representing the company, the commercial director of the packaging segment, Januário Soligon, highlighted JBT Marel's interest in expanding its operations in strategic markets in Brazil. “JBT Marel is a global company operating in over 30 countries, offering cutting-edge technology in machinery and packaging. Our commitment is to support companies of all sizes with innovative and sustainable solutions that increase the efficiency and competitiveness of the food chain,” he said.
Among the outcomes of the meeting is the organization of a technical seminar in Belém, aimed at the sector, which will deepen the dialogue on innovation, technology, and sustainability, aligned with Codec's effort to structure the packaging sector in the State.
