Inspection at integrated river base results in the seizure of over 20 kilograms of drugs in Baixo Amazonas
Drugs were found on a speedboat heading to Belém; the action is part of the Pará Government's strategy to combat drug trafficking on the rivers

A joint operation carried out this Thursday (11) by the security forces operating at the Integrated River Base "Candiru" in the municipality of Óbidos resulted in the seizure of over 20 kilograms of drugs transported on a vessel navigating the Amazon River towards Belém. The action is part of the Pará Government's strategy to strengthen the fight against drug trafficking through permanent operations at the river bases installed at strategic points in the State.
During routine patrols, agents from the River Group (GFlu), linked to the State Secretariat of Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), with the support of Military Police units, boarded the ship "Rondônia," coming from Manaus. In the cargo area of the vessel, the police located a speedboat with altered compartments. With the help of the sniffer dog "Isis," 18 drug packages were found hidden under the seats of the smaller vessel.
Material will be examined and subsequently incinerated
According to the initial forensic examination, the seized drugs total 20.125 kg, consisting of 19.465 kg of Skunk-type marijuana and 600 g of a substance with characteristics similar to Oxi. The drugs, along with the speedboat, were sent to the Civil Police Station of Óbidos for legal procedures and the opening of an investigation. After the examination, the material will be incinerated as provided by current legislation.

Government strengthens fight against trafficking on rivers
The State Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense, Ualame Machado, emphasized that the result of the operation reinforces the Pará Government's commitment to the safety of the population and the fight against drug trafficking through permanent actions on the region's rivers.
“The drug seizures represent a significant blow against drug trafficking in our rivers and demonstrate the unwavering commitment of the Pará Government to strengthen security throughout the state. This result is the fruit of strategic investments and the tireless work of our security forces, especially at the river bases, which have played a crucial role in combating these crimes. We will continue to intensify our efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of all Pará citizens,” said the head of Segup.
Investigations continue to identify and hold accountable those involved in the transportation of the drugs.
