More than 300 agents mobilized to ensure safety for the population

The State Secretariat for Public Security and Social Defense (Segup) and other agencies of the state and municipal security systems launched, on the afternoon of this Friday (12), Operation "Impulsus", which mobilizes over 360 agents in saturation and operational shock actions in Belém. The operation aims to contain and inhibit crime with preventive and guidance activities, in order to ensure greater tranquility and perception of safety for the population.

The ostensive presence of the Integrated Public Security System and the planned actions simultaneously in the main neighborhoods of Belém are highlights of the operation, explains the State Secretary for Public Security and Social Defense, Ualame Machado.

“Our goal is not to carry out any other inspections beyond those we already conduct daily with our ordinary force, but rather to truly disrupt criminal actions, approach individuals, identify criminals who may be fleeing justice, inspect establishments, as well as issues of noise pollution. We will also act with Operation 'Duas Rodas', which is where we conduct approaches to motorcycles and suspicious vehicles, so that we can provide society with a greater perception of safety, ensuring order and social peace. Our troops are acting in an integrated manner. It is worth noting that there are about 360 integrated police officers from the State, but also with the municipal security forces, with the Municipal Guard, so that each one can do their job, in an integrated manner, to deliver greater security to the entire society,” emphasized the head of Segup.

367 integrated security agents participate in the operation, supported by 102 vehicles, 66 motorcycles - highlighting the reactivation of the Tactical Motorcycle Patrol Company of Rotam - in addition to six tow trucks, one rescue vehicle, one firefighting vehicle from the Military Fire Department, and one aircraft from the Public Security Air Group (Graesp).

Prevention and inspection - Within the scope of “Impulsus”, three fronts of work will be developed, in the morning, afternoon, and evening, simultaneously carrying out actions of ostensive policing and aerial patrolling in neighborhoods previously mapped by the state intelligence agencies, especially during the times when the population returns home, in addition to traffic inspection and guidance, and repression of property crimes.

“This operation will be established in an integrated manner with the Sieds agencies. Each will have its assignment within its area. Regarding the Military Police, we will be with ostensive policing, acting at checkpoints conducting saturation, and making approaches. This may occasionally disturb some good citizens, but we have to approach because we cannot always distinguish whether that citizen is good or not during patrolling. Therefore, we will approach, disembark, so that we can succeed in our mission. We are deploying about 360 police officers here. Between our conventional policing and our special mission policing, we will also use horses, the motorcycles, which are 66. In these two days, the idea is to bring more tranquility to society, demonstrate strength, so that everyone can feel safe,” informed the commander-general of the Military Police, Colonel Sérgio Neves.

Integrated operations - Within the operation, the “Zero Tolerance” and “Duas Rodas” operations are also being triggered, with monitoring, guidance, and inspection of vehicles in general, and also in commercial establishments, including concert halls, bars, and restaurants. There will also be a fight against sexual exploitation, including child and adolescent exploitation, sexual harassment, and gender violence. The activities ensure safety and protection for those seeking leisure on the weekend.

Raimundo Benassuly, General Delegate of the Civil Police

“The Civil Police supports the Judicial Police in this operation, where we will bring in specialized teams, those that prevent crimes against adolescents. We will also act in the prevention of nightlife and making approaches to individuals with arrest warrants that need to be fulfilled. And we also act alongside street actions. If any arrest occurs by the Military Police, there will be a presentation at the Sectional, so that the delegate can carry out the necessary procedures,” highlighted the General Delegate of the Civil Police, Raimundo Benassuly.

Organized fans and public order - The agents will also act in confronting violence unleashed by organized fans and in public order, with the removal of street vendors and demarcation of parking spaces, through the Municipal Secretariat of Security, Public Order, and Mobility of Belém.

“We have here the first major operation of the two systems, acting in an integrated manner, the State System of Public Security and Social Defense and the Public Security System of Belém, which was established this year. Thus, we will have in the Municipal Traffic System, the Municipal Guard and Public Order acting in synergy with state forces, each within its assignment. We will intensify the preventive and ostensive part, and also the actions of ordering and traffic inspection integrated with the Detran personnel. And all of this reorganizing urban spaces, reinforcing crime prevention, organizing the occupation of the capital's spaces, to contribute to the fight against crime and in Public Order,” informed the municipal secretary of Security, Luciano de Oliveira.

At various points in Belém, inspection barriers are being set up to check irregular vehicles, especially motorcycles that are not complying with traffic rules and laws.

Action fronts - The first action front was initiated at 9 am this Friday (12), in front of the São José Liberto Space, and included prevention actions at bus stops and schools in the area, in order to ensure the safety of people's movements to work and during the return from classes.

The saturation and operational shock actions continue until dawn, with rounds, aerial patrolling, and monitoring of public movement in commercial and entertainment establishments. Agents from the Integrated Operations Center of Segup, the Ciop, monitor the movement of the population and police teams through video monitoring via security cameras installed throughout the city.

The operation takes place throughout the capital of Pará and involves the participation of the Civil, Military, and Scientific Police, Military Fire Department, State Traffic Department (Detran), State Secretariat for Penitentiary Administration (Seap), Graesp, Municipal Secretariat of Security, Public Order, and Mobility of Belém, and the Municipal Guard.
