Botos Tucuxi and Pink Dolphins enchant the audience at the Sairé Festival 2025 in Alter do Chão
The result of the cultural manifestation that unites indigenous traditions, customs of riverine peoples, and religious influences will be announced this Monday (22)

On the night of this Saturday (20), the Lake of Dolphins in Alter do Chão was the stage for one of the most anticipated moments of Sairé 2025: the duel between the Pink Dolphins and Tucuxi. With plots filled with identity, emotion, and tributes to the region's roots, the two groups captivated thousands of people with the spectacle.

“We have sought to respect all cultural makers, to respect the cultural diversity of our state. A very rich state where each city has its own cultural tradition. We are very proud that Sairé is happening, and the state government is alongside the city hall, alongside the dolphins, alongside the religious rite to show the people of Pará, tourists, and the world the richness of the extraordinary greatness of our state's culture,” emphasized the governor.

Vice Governor Hana Ghassan highlighted the importance of Sairé and the presentations of the dolphins for the identity of Pará: “Alter do Chão experiences one of the greatest cultural expressions of our state. Sairé is more than a festival: it is tradition, it is belonging, and it is pride for all of us.”

The Pink Dolphin, holder of 11 titles, presented the theme “Catraia: Enchantment of Crossing,” celebrating the catraieiros who daily take tourists to the Island of Love. The tribute highlighted the resilience of these workers in the face of advancing machinery and the preservation of local culture.

“The catraieiros represent the strength of traditions and the soul of our village,” stated the president of the Pink Dolphin, Tiago Vasconcelos. The spectacle brought around a thousand participants and 11 allegories to the Lake, composing a show of colors and symbolism.

On the other hand, the Tucuxi Dolphin, the current three-time champion and the most successful in the competition, with 13 titles, defended the theme “Borari Essence,” celebrating the identity and ancestral traditions of the indigenous people who gave rise to the village of Alter do Chão. With over a thousand dancers in the Lake, the presentation highlighted the cultural and spiritual strength of the community. For the president of the group, Ana Maria Pinho, the choice of the theme “is a tribute to the essence of Alter, an invitation to never lose the bond with our origins.”

The presentations of the two dolphins were evaluated in 16 items by three judges. The final result will be announced this Monday (22), in the afternoon, at the Lake of Dolphins.

The event also featured a comprehensive security structure and investment from the state government. More than 700 agents from the Military and Civil Police, along with teams from Detran and the Fire Department, ensured the tranquility of the festival. In terms of cultural promotion, the state allocated R$ 1.2 million through the Semear Program and an additional R$ 300 thousand via Secult to strengthen the festival's realization.

The presentations were attended by Governor Helder Barbalho, alongside his vice Hana Ghassan; the Minister of Cities, Jader Filho; the Minister of Tourism, Celso Sabino; the President of Alepa, Deputy Chicão; and the Mayor of Santarém, José Maria Tapajós; among other public authorities.

In a night of intense emotion and cultural fervor, broadcast live by the State Government through TV Cultura to thousands of viewers, the presentations of the two dolphins transcended mere spectacle, reaffirming the depth of their roots and the passion of their supporters.

Sairé 2025 reinforces its role as one of the largest festivals in the Amazon, a true cultural heritage that pulses to the rhythm of the dolphins, the colors, the faith of the religious rite, and the joy that infects everyone in Alter do Chão.
