Integrated Crime Scene Course Brings Together Experts from Various States in Belém

From September 29 to October 3, at the headquarters of PCEPA, participants will have access to fundamental activities for strengthening Forensic Science in Brazil

The VI Edition of the Integrated Crime Scene Course with an emphasis on Ballistics, Laboratory, Fingerprinting, and Forensic Medicine, promoted by the National Secretariat of Public Security (Senasp), linked to the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, in partnership with the Scientific Police of Pará (PCEPA), was opened on the morning of this Monday at the headquarters of PCEPA in Belém, with the presence of authorities.

Experts qualify for a more precise, swift, and grounded performance

The course, which brings together 40 criminal experts from all over Brazil, including 10 from Pará and 30 from other federative units, addresses relevant content for criminal expertise. Present at the opening were criminal expert and coordinator of Technological Modernization at SENASP Beatriz Figueiredo; forensic doctor Hinton Barros, general director of the Scientific Police of Pará; the director of the Criminalistics Institute of PCEPA, Isabela Barreto; Colonel Sérgio Neves, commander of the Military Police; and delegate Daniela dos Santos Oliveira, director of Acadepol, representing the Civil Police.

Theme - During the course, topics such as Human Rights, Forensic Ballistics, Laboratory Activities, Entomology applied to crime scenes, Forensic Medicine at crime scenes, DNA applied to crime scenes, Chain of custody, Fingerprint expertise, Forensic Computing, and Theory and practice of crime scenes will be addressed.

"The integration between different areas allows for a more precise, swift, and grounded performance, ensuring the production of forensic evidence with quality and reliability. An important point of this course is the interaction with experts from different states, which enriches the training process through the exchange of experiences, sharing of methodologies, and knowledge of different realities and challenges faced by the country. This exchange strengthens the national forensic network, promotes the standardization of good practices, and creates ties of institutional cooperation that directly reflect on the efficiency of criminal investigations," explained Isabela Barreto.

The director also emphasized that the Integrated Crime Scene Course is a strategic initiative for strengthening forensic performance in Brazil.
