The Science and Technology Caravan, an initiative of the Government of the State of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Science, Technology and Higher, Professional and Technological Education (Sectet), has reached the mark of over 21 thousand certified students since the project's launch in 2022.

“This mark of over 21 thousand certified students shows that we are building a legacy for scientific education in Pará. The Caravan brings youth closer to technologies, promotes inclusion, and opens new career perspectives, preparing our students for the challenges of the future,” emphasizes the head of Sectet, Victor Dias.

Created as part of a state policy to encourage science and technology, the Caravan aims to bring students and communities closer to scientific knowledge, offer practical experiences, and stimulate young people to become interested in careers in the technological field.

Since its inception, the project has traveled through 24 municipalities, served 45 locations, including state schools, Peace Factories, and cultural spaces, and presented over 30 experiments at the Science Fair.

The itinerant project operates with a “learning by doing” methodology, offering workshops in Robotics, 3D Printing, App Development, Entrepreneurship, and Digital Influencing.

For the coordinator of the Caravan, Thays Gouveia, the number of students reached confirms the project's impact. “Our goal is to plant a seed. Many students have never had contact with practical activities in science and technology. By participating in the Caravan, they realize that this knowledge can transform the future, whether in classroom learning or in job opportunities that may arise.”

In addition to the workshops, the Caravan promotes the Science Fair, allowing students to take the lead by presenting experiments developed by themselves, strengthening research practice and creativity.

Student Isabel Borralho, from the technical course in Environment, highlighted the value of the experience. “Participating in the Science Fair and presenting my chemical reaction experiment was a very enriching experience. Besides learning practically, we were able to share knowledge with colleagues and students from other schools as well,” she explains.

Each student who actively participates in a workshop or the Science Fair receives an official certification, recognizing their learning and potentially contributing to their resume and future professional opportunities.

Latest editions: Belém and Igarapé-Miri

The edition held at the Vilhena Alves State Technical School in Belém took place from September 16 to 19, with the participation of around 800 students. The program included workshops, experiments, and the Science Fair, open to the community.

“Seeing so many different project options made me realize that there are many areas to explore and that we can apply knowledge in practice. It is very motivating to see colleagues presenting their projects and to realize that we can also contribute with ideas and knowledge,” emphasizes student Mitchel Saraiva.

In Igarapé-Miri, the Caravan took place from September 22 to 26, bringing together students from schools in the region in technology workshops and the Science Fair, consolidating the municipality as another expansion point for the project in the interior of the State.

Social impact - The Science and Technology Caravan has a significant social reach, bringing scientific and technological knowledge to regions where students often do not have access to laboratories, robotics, or 3D printing. The initiative contributes to digital inclusion, encourages research, and stimulates young entrepreneurship, establishing itself as one of the main public policies for scientific popularization in Pará.

After concluding in Igarapé-Miri, the Science and Technology Caravan continues its route through Pará, expanding its impact and inspiring more and more young people from Pará to explore science and technology.
