The Cultural Foundation of Pará (FCP) promotes, in partnership with the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama) and the World Animal Protection Organization (WAP), the 1st Curupira Exhibition of Art and Environment. The event will be held at the Curro Velho Workshop Center (NOCV) from October 23 to 25 and proposes a dialogue between artistic creation and ecological awareness. Guided by the manifesto "Defaunation No, Refaunation Now", the exhibition uses the figure of the curupira to strengthen the discussion about preservation and the role of art in environmental debate.

The program is free and includes an exhibition of works produced in the workshops of the Center, thematic panels, conversation circles, film sessions with discussions, storytelling, open workshops, and theatrical performances. The target audience includes artists, students, educators, environmentalists, and the general community.

The coordinator of Cultural Workshops at the Center, Andrei Miralha, emphasizes the relevance of the event for the context of education. "The Curupira Exhibition reinforces our work of bringing environmental themes to the center of the artistic training process. It is essential that our students understand that cultural production has an active role in the discussion about the preservation and future of the Amazon, promoting reflection and the creation of purposeful works," he highlighted.

On the 23rd, the opening will feature the Exhibition "Defaunation No, Refaunation Now", composed of works produced in the workshops. The agenda continues at 10 am with the panel "Birdwatching in the Amazon: tips and stories from a photographer passionate about birds", with Gustavo Melo, president of the Birdwatching Club of Pará (Coapa). At 11:15 am, there will be a film discussion: "Shaman, in the Trail of the Jaguar"; at 4:30 pm, the conversation circle "Animals in art and Pará crafts: inspiration, ethics, and good practices", and at 5:30 pm, the film discussion: "BR-163: Progress for Whom?".

On the 24th, the agenda resumes at 10 am with the lecture "The Incredible World of Insects through Macro Photography", with César Favacho; at 11 am, the conversation circle will discuss "Social Media and the Culture of Wild Animals as Pets". The afternoon program includes, at 4 pm, the lecture "Animals as Comic Book Characters", with Leonardo Dressant, and at 5 pm, the film discussion: "The Invisible Victims of the Climate Crisis".

The closing, on the 25th, starts at 9 am, with the storytelling "Legends and Realities - Impacts on Wildlife", with Ana Silvia Ribeiro. Concurrently, from 9 to 11 am, there will be open workshops for painting, drawing, animation, and comics, with no prior registration required. The final point of the exhibition will be at 11:30 am, with the theatrical performance "Voices of the Forest", resulting from the Theater Initiation, Singing, and Percussion workshops of Curro Velho.

The Curupira Exhibition aims to engage the artistic community and the public in cultural practices with an environmental focus, promoting awareness about preservation and strengthening networks among artists and institutions related to sustainability. The initiative also seeks to create an artistic collection with environmental themes.

The realization of the 1st Curupira Exhibition of Art and Environment reinforces the role of the Cultural Foundation of Pará (FCP) as the main state body responsible for executing public cultural policies in the State of Pará, promoting dialogue between art and environmental issues. Follow FCP's actions on the website and on the social media of the foundation.
