Semas promotes lecture on the New Environmental Licensing Law in Belém

The New General Environmental Licensing Law was presented in a lecture at the auditorium of the headquarters of the State Secretariat for Environment, Climate and Sustainability on Wednesday (29) in Belém. The action coordinated by the Environmental Licensing Directorate (DLA) presented to servers from various areas of Semas the most recent updates obtained by the legislation, which will come into effect in February 2026.

Invited by Semas, lawyer and environmental law specialist Alexandre Sion delivered the lecture and addressed important points of the General Law that covers the entire national territory. He discussed topics such as Preliminary Licenses (LP), Installation Licenses (LI), and Operation Licenses (LO).

“The expectation for this event is to discuss this new Environmental Licensing Law, which was sanctioned this August and is set to come into effect in February next year. We are currently in the process of forming working groups to begin understanding how this law will affect the work of the secretariat as the environmental licensing agency,” says Ricelly Maia, manager of Industrial Projects at Semas.

Rosa Mendes, from the Coordination of Industry, Commerce and Services of the secretariat, stated that “the objective of the meeting was to update the servers considering the new parameters addressed in this new general law and the modifications that the state environmental agency will have to make internally for applicability starting next year, as provided.”

“The initiative to promote this event demonstrates the vision and commitment of the management to excellence and the continuous updating of the public servants of Semas,” said Rebeca Monteiro Reitz, coordinator of the Social Technologies and Climate Resilience Center of Semas.
