Opening panel of the Creative Corridor of the Amazon recalls cultural exchanges and creative economy

Culture as one of the pillars of the economy was the central point of the opening of the Creative Corridor of the Amazon, held on the afternoon of this Tuesday (11), at the Eneida de Moraes auditorium, in the Palacete Faciola, in Belém. The event discusses the potential of the creative economy as a strategy for local development and explores ways to boost the sectors benefited by this chain, a work that is already underway in the State. The program continues until this Wednesday (12), with activities from 10 am to 11:30 am.

During the debate panel, the State Secretary of Culture, Ursula Vidal, highlighted the cultural facilities built or revitalized by the government of Pará to exemplify the purpose of investments in the sector. The list includes enterprises that integrate the principles of the creative economy and education, such as the Gastronomic Center of the Parque da Cidade, which is preparing to host the gastronomy course of the State University of Pará (Uepa).

The data presented by the manager reinforces not only the potential of the creative economy but also the concrete results achieved with the investments. She emphasizes that, according to a previous survey, Pará invested R$ 182 million in the creative industry in 2022 alone, generating direct and indirect impact on various productive chains, exceeding 1 billion reais.

“We are a solution. Just as we have nature-based solutions and our governor launched the Bioamazon Vale yesterday as a strategy for developing the economy based on nature and biotechnology, one of the vectors of this strategy is exactly the creative economy,” the secretary reinforced.

Alongside the manager, the rector of the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), Gilmar Pereira, highlighted facilities such as the Landi Forum and the Mercedários Complex, which also align with the concept of the creative economy. According to him, culture and education share the same spaces, as in the case of the Gastronomic Center, where teaching approaches culinary culture and Pará's traditions.

One of the aspects of the meeting is to promote cultural exchange between different sectors and countries, featuring the presence of Jean-Paul Ferreira, first vice-president of the Territorial Collective of French Guiana. Also participating in the start of the activities were the secretary of creative economy and culture of Amazonas, Candido Jeremias, and the coordinator of the Creative Corridor of the Amazon, Flávia Furtado, responsible for mediation.

The government of Pará, through the State Secretary of Culture (Secult), supports the realization of the Creative Corridor and is part of the group of partners in carrying out activities during the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30). The complete program of the meeting can be accessed on the official Instagram of Secult.
