Inspection of the Antônio Lemos River Base seizes 16.5 kilograms of drugs in the Marajó Archipelago
The seizure occurred during a routine inspection carried out by the Public Security River Group in conjunction with the Military Police and Fire Department
On the afternoon of this Tuesday (11), an integrated inspection action by the Integrated River Base 'Antônio Lemos', linked to the Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), resulted in the seizure of 16.5 kg of narcotics similar to skunk marijuana, inside two trailers transported on a vessel originating from Manaus and destined for Belém.
The seizure occurred during a routine inspection carried out by the Public Security River Group in conjunction with the Military Police and Fire Department, during the approach to the vessel E/M Edivaldo Neto, which transports passengers, vehicles, and cargo on the Amazonas-Pará route. With the help of the sniffer dog Jay Z, from the PMPA K9 Battalion, it was possible to locate ten drug packages in one trailer. Subsequently, in another vehicle, six more packages of the same type of narcotics, skunk marijuana, were found, totaling 16.5 kg.
For the head of the Secretary of Security, Ualame Machado, each seizure made by the teams operating at the River Bases demonstrates the effectiveness of the strategy for the river network and the recognition that the government of Pará, through the Security System, has been receiving.
“Another seizure is made to reinforce that we are on the right track. By removing drugs from circulation, we are dismantling drug trafficking, criminal groups, and consequently reducing crime, as other crimes can be committed from drug trafficking. Therefore, I congratulate all the agents who are continuously monitoring and acting in the river network. And I reiterate that the results obtained from the Bases have been recognized by national studies, such as the violence cartography in the Amazon, launched yesterday by the Brazilian Forum on Public Security, which recognizes the bases as an essential good practice for combating crime in Pará and the Amazon,” said Ualame Machado.
In light of the facts, the material was seized and will be taken for appropriate procedures at the Regional Superintendence of Breves. The Civil Police continues the investigation to identify those responsible for sending the illicit material.
