Hospital do Tapajós' blood donation campaign receives support from the Army and Hemopa
In two days of the campaign, HRT reinforces its stock with the help of the Regional Blood Center of Santarém and, for the first time, from the 53rd Jungle Infantry Battalion
The Regional Hospital of Tapajós (HRT), in Itaituba, in the southwestern region of Pará, is holding the 5th Blood Donation Campaign this Wednesday and Thursday (November 12 and 13), in partnership with the Regional Blood Center of Santarém, linked to the Hemopa Foundation. For the first time, the initiative also has the support of the 53rd Jungle Infantry Battalion (53rd BIS), which participates with military personnel in supporting the action and in donating.
Since it began operations in December 2021, the Transfusion Agency of HRT has recorded 6,550 blood transfusions, averaging 250 procedures per month. The structure ensures more agility and safety for patients in the Tapajós region who need transfusions.
According to the supervisor of the Transfusion Agency, Lúdya Oliveira, the campaign is being held at an important time to reinforce the blood stock and ensure care for patients. “This campaign reinforces the importance of ensuring the blood stock at the Hospital and, thus, reducing the waiting time for patients who need transfusions,” she highlighted.
Decentralization - The Technical Director of HRT, Lucas Vergani, emphasized the impact of the partnership and community engagement. “With the Transfusion Agency fully operational, we can decentralize assistance, bringing more safety and agility to those who depend on a blood bag. Seeing the population and institutions like the Army embracing this cause is extremely significant,” he stated.
Among the donors of this fifth campaign is public servant Eliude Ramos, 38 years old, who donated for the first time. “When I saw the campaign announcement, I decided to donate. I thought I would be scared because I am afraid of needles, but it was very calm. There were snacks before and after; I liked it a lot. Now, I will always donate,” she assured.
The campaign continues until this Thursday (13), at the Regional Hospital of Tapajós, located on Avenida Marechal Rondon, Boa Esperança neighborhood. Interested individuals should go to the location carrying an official photo ID and meet the basic blood donation criteria.
