The State Secretariat for Environment, Climate and Sustainability (Semas) participated in the panel "The Sustainable Territories Policy in the Transition to Low Emissions", at the Pará Pavilion, located in the Green Zone of COP30, in Belém.

One of the main highlights of the panel was the announcement of the approval of "Pará Mais Sustentável", a project by Semas funded by the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES). "Pará Mais Sustentável will strengthen the Sustainable Territories Program (PTS) with R$ 64 million for environmental policies," highlighted the PTS manager, Tiago Peniche.

The investment aims to strengthen the program, support the execution of sustainable environmental policies, and enhance Semas' capacity to expand it to 27 municipalities in Pará.

During the panel presentation, Peniche also spoke about the positive impacts that the program has been promoting in the field since its implementation. "Since 2020, the Sustainable Territories Program has made significant progress, reaching over 6,000 farmers benefited, and now we are injecting more and more resources to strengthen governance, land use planning, and encourage sustainable production," he concluded.

The panel also included Semas environmental analyst, Cinthia Coelho; the deputy head of Technology Transfer, Bruno Giovany, from the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa); the secretary of the State Secretariat for Agricultural Development and Fisheries (Sedap), Giovani Queiroz; and the coordinator of International Cooperation in Agricultural Research for Development (Cirad), René Poccard.
