Celebrated on November 20th, Black Consciousness Day is a date that brings reflection on the struggle, resistance, and contributions of the black population to the construction of Brazil. In reference to this day, public schools in the state network carried out practical activities as a form of awareness and reflection on the theme.

In the municipality of Maracanã, in northeastern Pará, EEEM Izidório Francisco de Souza promoted the project "The Izidório School says NO to Racism" in respect for diversity and appreciation of Afro-Brazilian culture, reinforcing the school's commitment to inclusive, democratic, and anti-racist education.

The initiative aims to raise awareness among students, teachers, and the entire school community about the importance of racial equality and the recognition of the historical, social, and cultural contributions of the black people to the formation of Brazilian society. Through artistic, cultural, and pedagogical activities, the project stimulated student protagonism, collective work, and critical reflection on combating racism and discrimination.

At the Dr. Ângelo Cesarino State School, the work "Getting to Know Our Roots: a Visit to the Remnant Quilombola Community of Nossa Senhora do Livramento" was carried out in the municipality of Igarapé-Açu. The activity allowed students to learn how the community was formed and how they live.

The group went on an excursion and was guided by teachers to the old ruins of the train station located in the middle of the forest and within the quilombola community. There, they had a class with teacher Beatriz Coelho, who presented her research regarding the people of that place, and then they took a trip back in time with history teacher Daniel Paiva's lesson.

At the end, there was a tour with a lecture by Dona Teresa, a local resident for over 60 years. She shared the story she heard from her mother about how black people were treated on the old farms and how they chose the banks of the Livramento River to take refuge from the pain and suffering they lived in.

The school's principal, Marcela Abdoral, expressed her happiness with the project's realization and the importance of knowledge for students. "I was very happy to provide students with this unique experience of learning history in the exact place where it happened and continues to happen," she said.

For Daniele, mother of student Maria Alecksandrs from the 6th grade of elementary school, it was a unique experience. "They will never forget this day; my daughter came home all excited, telling me about what she saw," the mother recounted.

Curuçá - The Raimunda Sena School in Curuçá held a special program in commemoration of Black Consciousness Day, reinforcing the appreciation of Afro-Brazilian culture and the importance of reflection on ancestry among students.

Ana Paula Furtado, a student in the 3rd year of high school, highlighted that the action was "an opportunity to learn about the history and challenges of the black community," emphasizing the experience of the poetry project carried out by the class.

The program included cultural presentations and participation from representatives of the quilombola community of Algodoal.

The school's principal, Professor Paulo Henrique, emphasized that the date is essential for reflecting on affirmative policies and the contribution of black people to Brazilian culture. He also reminded that the communities of Algodoal and Recreio were recently recognized as remnants of quilombo, and that the school serves students from these localities.

Garrafão do Norte - In Garrafão do Norte, the State Schools of Full-Time Education Pacífico Leão da Costa and Mário Brasil, from the DRE of Capitão Poço, promoted the culmination of their projects on Black Consciousness Day, with cultural presentations and awareness activities.

Professor Graça Borges, principal of the Pacífico Leão da Costa State School, highlighted the importance of the actions. "The importance of working on the Free Consciousness project within the school aims to promote racial equality, combat racism, and also value Afro-Brazilian culture and empower the black population."

The actions reinforced the importance of the theme for developing attitudes of respect, empathy, and combating prejudice among students. By experiencing this process, students broaden their understanding of diversity, strengthen their identity, and become agents of transformation for a fairer and more equal society.

The schools were recognized for creating an educational environment that values memory, identity, and ancestry, strengthening the civic formation of students.
