Inspection agents from the Integrated Candiru River Base, linked to the State Secretariat for Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), executed, on Wednesday afternoon (26), an arrest warrant issued against a man for drug trafficking. The arrest occurred during a routine operation, after approaching a vessel coming from Amazonas (AM).

The arrested man was taken by the River Base police to the Óbidos Police Station

The suspect was apprehended on the ferry boat "Imperador", which left Manaus, the capital of Amazonas, heading to the municipality of Alenquer, in western Pará. The river agents from the Candiru Base made the arrest shortly after verifying the documents of the passengers present on the ferry, where they confirmed in the search system the open arrest warrant issued by the Amaturá District, in southwestern Amazonas.

The man was forwarded to the Óbidos Police Station, the municipality that hosts the Candiru Base, for the necessary procedures.

The head of Segup, Ualame Machado, reinforced the importance of inspection to combat crime in the rivers of Pará. "The inspection actions and the effective operation of River Bases, such as the Candiru Base, demonstrate the State government's commitment to public safety. Routine operations on vessels are one of the ways to combat crime in the rivers of Pará, which has shown enormous effectiveness," informed the State Secretary for Public Security and Social Defense.
