The Reintroduction and Monitoring Project of Ararajubas, developed by the Biodiversity Management Directorate (DGBio) of the Institute of Forest Development and Biodiversity of Pará (Ideflor-Bio), was present at the 4th edition of the State Youth Environmental Conference and is part of the regional programs of the 6th National Youth Conference for the Environment.

The event is part of the preparations for the United Nations Climate Change Conference - COP 30, which will be held in November this year in Belém. The program focuses on emphasizing the importance of environmental preservation and the active participation of young people in the environmental agenda.

Learning - According to Ideflor-Bio's Biodiversity Manager, Mônica Furtado, the action was important to present the significance of the species in nature. "We discussed with them the ecological importance of the ararajuba for the Amazon biome, in order to raise awareness among the target audience about the conservation of the species and against wildlife trafficking and biopiracy," she commented.

She also emphasized that in addition to the awareness-raising action, there was the presentation of the digital game Ararajuba Tá On, related to the species, and the lecture on Forest Conservation and Amazonian Sociobiodiversity, presented by the biologist and environmental analyst of Ideflor-Bio, Rubens de Aquino, with the young people who participated in the event.

About the event - The 4th edition of the State Youth Environmental Conference seeks to gather delegations from schools and Municipal/Regional Conferences to deepen dialogues about the environment, as well as to elect the action project and the delegation that will represent the State of Pará at the National Conference.

The event encourages the school community to adopt a responsible stance towards socio-environmental challenges, promoting local actions to face climate emergencies, based on environmental education, equity, inclusion, and diversity. At the state stage, 160 delegates will deepen the dialogues and choose the projects and representatives for the National Conference.
