Tapajós Hospital records a 15% increase in exams in the first half of 2025
The health unit performed over 93 thousand exams in the first six months of this year and improved the state strategy for early disease diagnosis
“I was well attended from the moment I entered. I never imagined I would have an MRI of this type without paying anything.” This is the statement of Ana Maria Cândido, 39, a resident of Itaituba, in southwestern Pará, about her experience of undergoing the imaging exam at the Regional Hospital of Tapajós (HRT).
She was one of the hundreds of people benefited by the expansion of access to exams and specialized procedures, within the initiative “Health for All,” implemented by the unit in April of this year.
Only in the first half of 2025, the Regional Hospital of Tapajós performed 93,168 exams, representing a growth of 15.84% compared to the same period last year, when 80,398 exams were recorded.
The most performed procedures continue to be clinical analyses, with an average of over 10 thousand per month, in addition to general X-rays, which exceed 700 per month, and general CT scans, with a monthly average of over 500 exams.
According to the coordinator of the Diagnostic and Therapeutic Support Service (SADT), Andressa Cardoso, the increase in numbers reflects the efficiency of the unit's new strategy.
“Since the beginning of the ‘Health for All’ action, we have been able to better organize flows, integrate teams, and expand access to the population. The results are showing: more people being attended to with quality and agility,” highlights the coordinator.
The general director of the unit, Salomão Favacho, reinforces the positive impact on the community. “The Regional Hospital of Tapajós is a reference in health for southwestern Pará. With the ‘Health for All’ action, we have been able to reach those who need it most. The acceptance from the population of Itaituba has been excellent, which reinforces our commitment to a strong and accessible SUS,” he stated.
The initiative has contributed to reducing the waiting list for exams and improving early disease diagnosis in the Tapajós region, one of the most strategic areas in Pará.
Managed by the Social Institute Mais Saúde, in partnership with the State Department of Public Health (Sespa), the Regional Hospital of Tapajós is a unit of the Government of Pará.
With 153 beds including Adult, Pediatric, and Neonatal ICUs, the hospital reaffirms its commitment to public health, offering high-quality services to the population of the region.
