With the commitment to expand access to education and ensure quality teaching for all age groups, the Government of Pará closely monitors the construction stages of another Early Childhood Education unit, which will soon be delivered in the Marajó Archipelago. During an administrative agenda in the region, Governor Helder Barbalho visited the facilities of the new daycare in Curralinho, which is over 80% completed.

“I am very happy to be here and to closely follow the progress of the daycare in Curralinho, which today has 85% of its works completed. By October, we will be returning to the municipality to deliver another unit of the 'Daycare Centers throughout Pará' Program in the Marajó region,” informed the governor.

The new early childhood education unit will have the capacity to serve 200 children, aged 0 to 5 years, in modern, safe, and fully equipped educational spaces that facilitate educational and social development.

Luzirene Carneiro: daycare will help families

Expectation - Many families living in Curralinho, who need safe spaces to leave their children while they work, are eagerly awaiting the delivery of the new daycare. One of these residents is Luzirene Pantoja Carneiro. “I have two children who study far from home. With the delivery of the daycare, they will be able to stay closer. This will help a lot, especially women, because we are warriors and need to help our husbands with the household income. Today, I am not working and my husband does not have a steady job. With the daycare, it will be much better, an extra peace of mind, because besides our children being closer to home, I will be able to work and help my husband,” said Luzirene.

With an investment of R$ 6,051,884.66, the structure follows the quality standard of the Program. The executive project includes 10 classrooms; a multipurpose room; children's, adult, and adapted bathrooms; a lactation room, nursery, breastfeeding area, and diaper changing rooms; a cafeteria, pantry, and storage; administration, direction, and teachers' room. The outdoor area consists of a covered patio, playground, parking lot, space for a resting area, garden, and vegetable garden.

Construction of the daycare is already moving towards the completion phase

Upcoming deliveries - In addition to the daycare in Curralinho, the works in Altamira, Marabá, Igarapé-Açu, and Magalhães Barata are in the final phase, benefiting children from the western, southeastern, and northeastern regions of Pará.

The “Daycare Centers throughout Pará” Program is an initiative of the Government, coordinated by the State Department of Education (Seduc), aimed at expanding access to early childhood education in the 144 municipalities. Through the Program, approximately 30,000 families will benefit, especially mothers who need to work. For this, the State will provide a suitable space, with safety and comfort, to accommodate the children.

The state treasury's investment in improving early childhood education will exceed R$ 400 million in the construction of 150 daycare centers in the Pará territory. In municipalities with higher population density, two units will be built, further expanding the availability of spots and the reach of the initiative.

The municipalities that have already received the new early childhood education units through the “Daycare Centers throughout Pará” Program are Belém, Oriximiná, Ananindeua, Benevides, Redenção, Cumaru do Norte, Bannach, Almeirim, Melgaço, and Curuçá.
