The Government of Pará, through the State Commission for the Policy of Incentives for Socioeconomic Development, approved four new projects for granting tax incentives as part of actions aimed at stimulating industrial development and job creation.

The deliberation took place on Tuesday, the 19th, during the 2nd Ordinary Meeting of the Incentives Commission, chaired by the State Secretariat for Economic Development, Mining and Energy (Sedeme).

In addition to the approval of the new projects, the meeting also evaluated three goal follow-ups, with one revocation, two renewal requests, and one goal revision.

Benefited companies - Among the companies that had their projects approved are: Plangecon Serviços Industriais, with over two decades of operation in Parauapebas, specialized in the manufacture of metal structures, engineering, and industrial maintenance; and TRC Agroflorestal LTDA, based in Santa Maria das Barreiras, operating in the timber sector.

The project of Indústria e Comércio de Palmitos Içara LTDA, located in the municipality of Abaetetuba, producer of palm hearts in various lines, including traditional, vegan, and organic products, was also approved, as well as MLX Confecções, headquartered in Ananindeua, a group with over 30 years of experience in manufacturing professional uniforms and producing about 20,000 pieces per month.

The Deputy Secretary of Economic Development, Mining and Energy, Carlos Ledo, chaired the meeting and opened the agenda by thanking the efforts of the technical chamber — responsible for analyzing the technical feasibility of the presented projects, which are subsequently submitted to the Tax Incentives Commission for economic evaluation and final approval.

“The new approved projects cover different sectors of the economy and encompass strategic municipalities in the region, reinforcing the state government's commitment to strengthening the local industry and diversifying the economy of Pará,” highlighted the secretary.

The State Secretary of Finance, Sousa Júnior, emphasized the importance of tax incentives as a tool to promote economic development and ensure the generation of new jobs. “We had a productive meeting, in which new projects were evaluated that will certainly contribute to the economic growth of the state,” he stated.

The Operational Secretary of Tax Incentives (Secop), Luiz Ribeiro, praised the joint effort of the team, considering the vast territorial extension and logistical challenges of Pará. He also highlighted the team's commitment to analyzing the projects in record time.

“We adopted a sensitive approach in the evaluation process, taking into account social aspects, focusing on economic development and the particularities of each proposal. Our goal is to promote the generation of new jobs throughout Pará, especially in regions facing greater logistical difficulties. With this, we seek to reduce migration to urban centers, expand opportunities, and strengthen the population's permanence in their communities of origin,” emphasized Secretary Luiz Ribeiro.

Manoel Ibiapina, Director of Investment Attraction and Business of the Economic Development Company of Pará (Codec), emphasized that tax incentives are a strategic tool, resulting from important deliberations aimed at strengthening the economy of Pará.

“We had a very productive meeting, reaffirming the commitment of the Tax Incentives Commission, which remains open to dialogue and the joint construction of solutions that drive the economic development of the state,” he highlighted.

After the approval by the Commission and the completion of the administrative stage, with the gathering and validation of the mandatory documentation, the act of granting the incentives is published in the State Official Gazette (IOEPA).

Companies that join the Program can receive tax incentives ranging from 50% to 90%, which can reach up to 95%, depending on the strategic activity developed. The duration of the benefits is a minimum of seven years and a maximum of 15 years, with the possibility of extension for an equal period, totaling up to 30 years. It is worth noting that, according to Complementary Law No. 160/2017, tax incentives must end by the year 2032.

These incentives aim to promote the verticalization of production, encouraging companies to invest in strategic areas, boosting economic growth and job creation. These incentives can manifest in various forms, such as tax deductions, tax credits, tax exemptions, and other tax benefits.

The Incentives Commission is composed of representatives from state agencies and secretariats, such as the Secretariat of Agricultural Development and Fisheries (Sedap), the Secretariat of Science, Technology and Higher, Professional and Technological Education (Sectet), the Secretariat of Environment and Sustainability (Semas), the Secretariat of Finance (Sefa), and the Secretariat of Planning and Administration (Seplad), as well as the Economic Development Company of Pará (Codec), the Bank of the State of Pará (Banpará), and the Attorney General's Office of the State (PGE).
