PPGEECA at Uepa opens applications for Professional Master's Degree

25 spots are offered for the Professional Master's Degree in Education and Teaching of Sciences in the Amazon

The State University of Pará (Uepa), through the Center for Social Sciences and Education (CCSE) and the Coordination of the Graduate Program in Education and Teaching of Sciences in the Amazon (PPGEECA), announced the announcement for the opening of applications for the selection process 2026, at the level of Professional Master's Degree.

Applications can be submitted until October 1, 2025, through the website. It is necessary to fill out the application form, attach the requested documents, and pay the application fee of R$ 150.00.

The selection process will consist of the following stages: validation of applications (eliminatory), written evaluation (eliminatory and classificatory), evaluation and questioning of the project proposal (eliminatory and classificatory), and evaluation of the Lattes curriculum (classificatory).

25 spots are offered for the Professional Master's Degree in Education and Teaching of Sciences in the Amazon. Among them, 14 spots for the line "Training of Science Teachers and Teaching and Learning Process in Various Amazonian Contexts" and 11 spots for the line "Educational Strategies for Teaching Natural Sciences in the Amazon."

To apply, the candidate must meet one of the following requirements: have a higher education degree in one of the listed undergraduate courses - Natural Sciences, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Pedagogy, Education in the Field with a qualification in Natural Sciences, or Teacher Training for the Early Years of Elementary Education (who is teaching or has taught for at least six months in Basic Education in the area of Sciences); or be a teacher or technician and be in effective exercise in higher education institutions, with a higher education degree in the indicated courses.

Graduated candidates from the indicated courses, without teaching professional experience, may have their application accepted, provided they prove participation of at least one year in non-curricular internships, monitoring, or projects (teaching, research, or extension) in the area of Education in Sciences or Teaching of Sciences.

PPGEECA - The PPGEECA is structured in the concentration area called "Teaching, Learning, and Teacher Training in Sciences in the Amazon" and divided into two research lines: "Educational Strategies for Teaching Natural Sciences in the Amazon" and "Training of Science Teachers and Teaching and Learning Process in Various Amazonian Contexts."

The Professional Master's Degree course lasts 24 months. The start is scheduled for the first semester of 2026, with the date to be announced on the Program's website. Classes will take place on Fridays and Saturdays, in the morning and afternoon periods, in person, at the Center for Sciences and Planetarium of Pará (CCPPA), in Belém.

According to the coordinator of PPGEECA, Professor Priscyla da Luz, the program strengthens education in Pará, with its reach, as it provides Basic Education teachers, especially from Pará, with teacher qualification and advancement in research on Teaching of Sciences in various contexts.

"PPGEECA is a program aimed at qualifying teachers in the Amazon region. Uepa, having campuses in various regions, becomes essential to achieve this goal. Based on what we have developed as a program, we have received very satisfactory feedback from teachers who completed our master's degree, through the research and educational products developed, which positively impact education in Pará," highlights the coordinator.

The final result of the selection process is expected to be announced on January 9, 2026.
