Sacred Art Museum hosts 'Climate Elders' exhibition during COP 30 in Belém
The exhibition portrays the impact of the climate crisis on the lives of elderly people through photography
The Sacred Art Museum of Pará (MAS) will host the exhibition "Climate Elders" during the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 30). The exhibition will be inaugurated on November 7, from 6 PM to 10 PM, at the Fidanza Gallery of the museum, located in the historic complex of the Church of Santo Alexandre, in the Cidade Velha neighborhood of Belém, and will be open to the public until December 31 of this year, with tickets priced at R$ 4. The exhibition is a global photographic project created by the initiative 1in6by2030 in partnership with HelpAge International.
The exhibition brings together the photographic work of professionals from over 21 countries, with the main objective of showcasing the daily lives of elderly people affected by the climate crisis. The works depict how these transformations affect their lives and livelihoods. The exhibition is curated by Yasemin Elci and organized by Leonardo Carrato, who will also lead two guided tours, one on November 8 and another on November 15.
Each portrait displayed is accompanied by a personal message addressed to world leaders. These are intimate reflections that reinforce a collective call for urgency, dignity, and inclusion in global climate policies.
At least 22 photographers are credited with the portraits gathered for the exhibition, including: Amber Bracken, Ana Caroline de Lima, Aron Simeneh, Bektur Zhanibekov, Cynthia Matonhodze, Debsuddha, Ed Kashi, Francisco Vigo, Ilvy Njiokiktjien, Jan Guth, Jannatul Mawa, Jittrapon Kaicome, Lê Xuân Phong, Leonardo Carrato, Light Oriye, M’hammed Kilito, Matias Bercovich, Nadia Bseiso, Paolo Verzone, Sara Terry, Tace Stevens, Thomas Byczkowski.
