Public school and Usina da Paz present projects and performances in the Green Zone
Students, teachers, and public policy representatives addressed important topics in the conference environment, such as Amazon culture and youth protagonism
The program in the Green Zone of the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30), at the Pará Pavilion in Belém, continues to bring together students, teachers, and public policy representatives in cultural and educational presentations that highlight themes such as the environment, Amazon culture, and youth protagonism.
On this Tuesday (18), two state schools and the Usina da Paz of Cabanagem integrated the agenda dedicated to youth. The presentations were made by the State Schools Renato Pinheiro Conduru and Ayuda Vieira. The itinerary included a guided visit, reception by the COP teams, and a tour of the Green Zone area.
Experience - The director of Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education of the State Department of Education (Seduc), Carla Reis, highlighted the pedagogical importance of participation in the conference. “Children and young people need to experience this great global movement that is happening in their city. We selected schools with projects related to environmental education and culture because this strengthens student protagonism and brings to practice what is discussed in the classroom,” said the manager.
The presence of families also marked the program. Nathalia Garcia, mother of Ariela Valentina, a 4th-grade student at the Emiliana Sarmento School, said that “it was a huge pleasure to be here with my daughter and participate in this wonderful event. All the preparation at school, the rehearsals, everything was very beautiful. I can only thank.”
Ariella also expressed her enthusiasm for the presentation. “We had been rehearsing for a long time. We presented about the ararajuba, saying that it cannot be mistreated. I loved participating, and I was very anxious to be at COP,” said the student.
Four schools were chosen to represent the state public education network. On Monday (17), the program was led by the Reference School of Early Childhood Education Orlando Bittar.
Dance and representativity - The program also featured a performance by the dance group from Usina da Paz of Cabanagem, which returned to the Green Zone stage with a performance based on Amazonian rhythms and elements. The participation reaffirms the cultural work developed in the communities by the Usinas da Paz, which have already accumulated awards at festivals such as Dança Pará and the Northern Dance Circuit.
“The presentation of the Dance and Music classes from the Usinas da Paz represents much more than a cultural activity. It is a living demonstration of the talent, sensitivity, and strength of our communities. Seeing these young people occupying such an important international space reaffirms the commitment of the Government of Pará to social inclusion, art, and the protagonism of the periphery,” informed the State Secretary of Articulation and Citizenship, Elieth Braga.
The representative of the State Nucleus of COP30, Fábio Bentes, emphasized the central role of youth in the program. According to him, “we are bringing a program focused on the youth of our state. We work together with Seac, with Seduc, with children, adolescents, and young people, presenting what COP is and the importance of this discussion about the climate crisis and temperature changes. On the 17th and 18th, dedicated to youth by the UN (United Nations), we held a special program in the Green Zone, explaining what happens in both the Blue Zone and the Green Zone, and ending with cultural presentations. This experience provides children with a unique experience. Environmental awareness needs to be born at the base. Working on climate education from an early age prepares more conscious adults to face the environmental challenges of the future.”
